| My name is John and
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA - where I have
lived my whole life. I have been very interested in weather ever since
the Blizzard of 1978 brought 2 feet of snow to my house several weeks
before my 9th birthday. I have always loved snowstorms, but I used to
be deathly afraid of thunderstorms. By the time I was about 15 or 16,
my fascination for thunderstorms outweighed my fear. Although even now
if a very bad thunderstorm is approaching, I won't hesitate to go to the
basement and wait until it passes - just in case.
I graduated from high school in 1987 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Computer Programming from Temple University in 1992. I met my wife Jane while attending Temple University. As you can see from our picture, we are both Phillies fans. This is actually how we met - a mutual friend of ours knew we each were not seeing anyone and that we both were Phillies fans. He set us up on a date, and we have been together ever since. It ONLY took us 10 years to finally get married (July 21, 2001). Our wedding was baseball themed, as was our reception. One of these days, I will post a few pictures so you can see what I am talking about. Actually, the picture above is our engagement picture - taken a few months before the wedding. As far as what I do professionally, I have been a computer programmer for a large pharmaceutical company since March of 1997. I have also done some programming on the side, including several Windows-based card games and word games for a local computer game company. In my spare time I enjoy watching sports (mostly baseball and football), playing tennis and of course following the weather! |
