I saw those as well driving home. Amazing how quickly the skies filled late today and convection is popping up. Key now will be how quickly do we drop to 32 and below. The warm-up today took us into the mid 40s. But once precip starts falling it should provide that adiabatic cooling effect with the dewpoints in the low to mid 20s.

As I thought the weather is not behaving as any models have shown it to ... even the short-range models. Convection ramped up quicker than thought. The system coming must be really dynamic.

Thanks ... you know, it's not going to snow here so if I could get an accumulating thundersleet event, I would call it a great victory and perfect topping to this winter. That is my hope for my fellow Austin peeps.

It looks to me that the thunderstorms moving through central Texas are the result of a separate disturbance. Notice no new precip west of that area at this time.

Well, it looks like the freezing line is already cutting through Katy/Cypress/Jersey Village/Bush, so I'm thinking that we might get some freezing love down here in Mo City! Thoughts?

Think you may be right and it proves, once again, that when these systems approach us from the west/southwest where we have limited upper air data ... there always seems to be a surprise or two. I just checked the latest HRRR-RUC short range run again and it shows nothing over south central Texas at this hour. None of the models had it.

Numerous local ISDs, including Austin and Round Rock, announcing two-hour delayed start tomorrow. Probably a good call as they can adjust accordingly early tomorrow if the event transpires as predicted. Those delayed openings may stretch into daylongs. We shall see.

I feel like we are getting left out on the Winter Storm Warning lol! I have readings just about the same as you. Two more degrees and things will get fun.

Definitely still looks like the precip is staying south of here. Looks like Austin is about to get another round. Hoping that the main event is still to come tonight and extends a bit further north. Would hate to have a Winter Storm Warning go to waste.

Going to be an interesting night in SE TX with dew points in the mid 20s and temps near freezing. How exciting! Another winter weather event! I only hope these freezing rain events continue through the spring.
