In Richardson, I'm now at 33 with a dew point of 32. That's down from 36 about 2 hours ago.

Temps even in Dallas county are starting to fall close to freezing. This precip band is carrying cold air advection with it

Sherman, Celina and Denton are all down to 30, the 30 line is now farther SE than the 32 line was earlier.

I feel like this is going to be a surprise event in immediate DFW. :cold: :double:

Seeing some of the pics from the west and north, you have to wonder if the large area of ice/sleet on the ground isn't chilling the air funneling south more than predicted. (armchair thoughts...)

Can confirm in Keller that ice is starting to stick to trees. Back home about 10 miles west temp is still 32, but rose slightly from a bit earlier. Still going to be hard to have a big impact unless it drops below 31 or so. But, the 31 line isn't too far west. Sundown will help things drop slightly maybe....if there is precip around still (not sure what the forecast is for when it ends). I am more concerned for my wife, who works in south FW. If there is a surprise, she may not get home for hours. But, hard to imagine it getting so much of a surprise that the roads freeze.

Calm this morning in N. Dallas. Now a brisk wind out of the NW. I think a low is developing along the front and we're going to get some baroclinic action to bring down more cold air.

Wondering why no ice storm warning is being issued for Grayson. Ice is getting pretty thick and have already been power lines down and power is out at the house currently.

Ice buildup continues in Denison. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inches on trees and power lines. Hearing some sporadic reports of power outages happening around town.

76 degrees at my office off I-45 south and BW-8. Front is moving at a snail's pace across Houston as the shallow cold air modifies. Contrary to what was stated in an earlier post, an ice storm is NOT better than no winter weather at all, when an ice storm is mostly freezing rain mixed with sleet. Power outages and dangerous travel are not good. A little snow is fine, generally. Freezing rain - not so great.

:uarrow: From Grayson County Scanner in the last hour:

“Numerous reports of tree limbs and power lines down coming in across the county.”

“Report of a power line down at Main and 902 in Dorchester. One person possible shocked. Howe fire and Sherman Fire toned out.-Roy”
