The Farmer's Almanac map looks great but the The Old Farmers Almanac winter map for 2018-2019 is about as complete a 180 as you will see.

Ha! Yea, they both seem to be complete opposites every year. It’s hard to trust either of them when very little of their forecast is based on actual meteorology.

Yeah, we've over powered you. Be prepared for a rough winter wxman.

Do not challenge the power of the warm side (of the force). :firedevil:

:uarrow: The melting snowmen remind me of the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when the Nazis open the ark and a few people melt near the ark. Always creeped me out as a kid.

I've got the over for winter weather events in SE Tx this year. Texas in general I believe will have plenty of winter this year. I dont think we can draw it any better.

Modiki Nino
Low Solar
Warm pool in NE Pac.

Actually reading the 09-10 thread now to look for similarities :)

So can I place a bet that we will for sure have a winter in DFW? I don't want to start holding my breath or anything. Wxman better keep the heat in the confinement of his own home this year LOL I was reviewing both almanacs and you guys are right, they're very different. What I gather from the few that I follow on here it looks pretty promising. :froze:

Ben Noll has become popular in the tropical threads for the Atlantic. He is pretty good and making maps that you generally can't find easily. Hopefully this tweet comes to fruition. A weak-mod Nino could provide such a thing.

I expect slightly stronger El Niño than has been currently forecast. As matter of fact if you look at Data from August and compare to September the signals are there of a slightly stronger El Niño by Dec going into Jan. We don't want it real weak but don't want it exceptionally strong either. So this trend could be in our favor! Don't pay much attention to the CPC Outlooks at this point anyone's guess is good as another. I will tell you though I like what I see going into this Winter across the Southern Plains... :froze: :cold: Put those seat belts on and hold on it's going to be interesting ;) :D

A met online said this upcoming pattern will be similar to what we should expect in the upcoming winter. I agree, except i think the southern stream will have a lower latitude that will cut through Texas.
