9pm obs include 40 at tampa (33 dewpoint), 29 in brooksville (26 dewpoint), 43 at palm beach (28 dewpoint) 42 st pete clearwater (34 dewpoint), 40 at sarasota bradenton (34 dewpoint),43 at ft myers (sw int) (33 dewpoint). it seems colder and drier over the east central counties with orlando international at 39 (dewpoint of 28), daytona is 37 (dewpoint 21) and vero beach already near freezing at 33 (dewpoint of 22)...not a good set up at this time of the night for those folks.

Forecast low for my house/area is 22F. I am at 23F @ 10:50PM EST and bouncing up against the dew point. Not going much colder, but have been below freezing since about 7PM.

Here's something you don't see too often in central FL...

For those wondering what freezing fog is; the following is the definition from the AMS glossary:

"A fog the droplets of which freeze upon contact with exposed objects and form a coating of rime and/or glaze."

Frost on my windshield. Took about 5 min. to melt it off. I'm about a mile east of 441. Didn't think I'd have frost. 37 on my balcony. Warmer times are coming. :cold:

This morning was the most frost I have seen so far this winter season, frost everywhere. It finished killing anything that was not dead yet if it was not covered last night.

http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php ... glossary=1

There were quite a few impressive low temperatures this morning. MCO hit 26F, and Plymouth (in Orange county) hit 17F! The only spots that managed to stay out of the 20s last night were the Orlando Executive Airport (31F) and Avalon (30F).

This freeze now makes 6 "official" freezes in Orlando during the month of December.

I recorded 20.7 degrees for a low temperature.

I do know NWS Jacksonville recorded 21 degrees for their morning low officially, which shattered the record for today's date.
This is the 16th freeze for the month, and with another hard freeze likely tomorrow morning with temps falling into the mid 20s, we are already approaching our average total of 18 freezes for an entire winter all within one month! Just an amazing record cold December 2010 we have had for sure.

39 ended up being the low temp. Surprised that was low enough for frost on the car.

Now comes the payoff....nice extended period of warmish weather!

15 for the low in brooksville last night and they are already down to 27 this evening. there's a reason things look decidedly non-tropical there. they can frequently keep pace with or even exceed the cold spots in north florida. kudos to the nws for nailing the low estimate there to within a degree last night. fortunately, lows in the big ag regions father south stayed well above estimates with lakeland missing their projected low by nearly 10 degrees. the big warm up commences tomorrow...i can't wait.

Clearwater is already 35f as of 10pm eastern. This is about 7 degrees colder than last time at this time. Northern pinellas seems primed for a freeze tonight especially east of us 19.

I have no idea why there is no freeze warning there for tonight but there was one last night.

Here in palm beach county, west palm is quite chilly at 46F but the temp warmed up a degree over the last hour. Winds at the mid levels are starting to veer to the northeast over se Florida.
