Same down in South Austin. A little sleet and a couple of flurries mixed in while I was out picking tomatoes and peppers!

Crazy how south Texas is getting winter weather before north Texas. While yall are getting snow, its sunny and barely a cloud in the sky here! This will probably make the bottom fall out on temps after dark. Enjoy it, yall deserve it!

NWS FTW

Based on the latest available guidance, anticipate that
precipitation will finally dwindle and press south of our region
around or before midnight tonight as downglide rushes in behind
the trough axis. Surface wet bulb temperatures are forecast to
remain near or just above freezing through this time, so outside
of some minor accumulations on grassy surfaces and wet roads, no
issues are anticipated.

The other story will be the prospect for very cold temperatures
overnight as skies begin to clear and winds really fall off. The
DFW airport will very likely set its first freeze since way back
on January 8th--the longest "freeze-less" stretch since records
began in 1898. The previous record was 303 days in 1981.
Lows
across our coldest and most sheltered locations may fall into the
teens tonight, while mid 20s should be more prevalent across the
Metroplex, and upper 20s across our far southern counties where
clouds may hold on a bit longer.
Since nearly all of our counties
have already recorded a freeze this season (end of October), no
Freeze Warning will be issued, and our Hard Freeze criteria is 10
degrees or colder, but we`ll highlight the very cold temperatures
with a Special Weather Statement.

Yes there are definitely snow flakes mixed in, I was just driving in it.

This was a very unusual cold snap in that even though the surface may not rank up there, aloft it's been a deep cold air mass. Most of the weather was driven south by the cold advection and dry air.

Washington state, sites such as Olympia and Seattle set records for above normal 500mb heights (ridge) and the same pattern is creating hellish fire conditions in SoCal. Winds 80-100mph from the mountain passes as air moves from the deserts around the ridge. meanwhile digging upper trough unusually far south.

While much talk is the weather here, this is not welcome out west.

Snow mix is increasing. Snow flakes are getting larger. Trying to capture in a pic but easier with video.

I don't have any pictures as I was navigating the usual Austin afternoon traffic nightmare, but Champ did see some light sleet/snowflakes mixed in with the rain at about 3:30 pm as I was driving back to my office downtown. It wasn't much ... and by 4 pm when I walked down to Starbucks to satiate my caffeine addiction, it was all light rain.

Don't want to sound like an ingrate but I certainly hope this isn't all Winter 2017-18 has to offer.

There you are Porta, good to hear. I took a couple of video clips with my phone just to show people that yes it did actually snow a little lol

Saw the biggest flakes when that little band of heavier precip came through but it's over now.

I hope so, good for Austin, more to come. Our will be at night, which is fine. I'll take it.

Alright, the jet streak is rounding the base of the Low. Dynamics should start changing soon. Need temps to start dropping here. Dewpoints north of Houston are much lower than in town. I expect them to drop at around sun down. Literally been raining ALL DAY today.

Yea it's transitioning back to more snow here in South Austin as well. Trying to get the sensitive plants inside or covered. Its back and forth snow for a few min, then rain then snow then rain. Radar has blue over the city so will be interesting if we start seeing more snow than rain.

At least it's something. It's changed over to more grouple here at the Rain Cave. Wasn't expecting to see the kind of echos that are to the west of us. Figured the precip would have been done by now.
