I flew in and out of DIA during the late October 20+ inch snow. They did a great job keeping the airport open and functioning reasonably well. We actually pushed back from the gate on time to the minute, but were ultimately delayed about 1 hour due to the de-icing line.

Good luck!

Just a couple of inches to report this morning, but it's still coming down and the gaurantee of a white Christmas sure is nice.

I've been diligently keeping track of the year-to-date totals, which has been an easy task until yesterday. Yesterday early AM we had 5." I shovelled the driveway and off we went to Eldora to ski. When we returned, my shoveling efforts were wasted!!!! But i'm convinced it was mostly blowing/drifting snow. So I'm going to somewhat arbitrarily call yesterday's storm 6."

YTD snow:
First storm - 3"
Big storm - 21.5"
3rd storm - 6.5"
12/2/09 - 1.5"
12/6/09 - 10"
12/8/09 - 3"
12/23/09 - 6"

Total = 51.5"

I woke up this morning to about 10" total in the wind blocked areas. More than I was expecting, that's for sure. Mountains didn't do as well. :(

From the Denver NWS. I knew it was a cold December, but 7th coldest ever? Wow. And our snowfall is 12" above normal. Interesting winter so far!

...DECEMBER HAD ABOVE NORMAL SNOWFALL BUT BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION...

...DECEMBER FINISHES AS 7TH COLDEST SINCE 1872...

FOUR SNOW STORMS CREATED ENOUGH SNOW FOR DECEMBER TO BE ABOVE NORMAL IN THE
SNOW CATEGORY. FOR THE MONTH...11.1 INCHES WAS TALLIED COMPARED TO A NORM OF
8.7 INCHES. 5.9 INCHES AND WAS RECORDED AT DIA ON THE 23RD AND 24TH. THE
TOTAL SEASONAL SNOWFALL JULY THROUGH DECEMBER WAS 37.6 WHICH WAS 12.O INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL. BUT PRECIPITATION WAS BELOW NORMAL WITH A TOTAL OF ONLY 0.45
INCH WHICH IS 0.18 INCH BELOW NORMAL. THERE WERE 7 DAYS WITH MEASURABLE
MOISTURE WITH 2 DAYS COLLECTING ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OR MORE. GREATEST
MOISTURE DAY WAS 0.20 INCH BETWEEN THE 22ND AND 23RD.

THE MONTH FINISHED WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 24.1 DEGREES WHICH WAS
6.2 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THAT AVERAGE TEMPERATURE PUTS DECEMBER 2009 INTO
THE 7TH COLDEST DECEMBER SLOT. TEMPERATURES DURING THE MONTH RANGED FROM
A HIGH OF 59 DEGREES DOWN TO A LOW OF -17 DEGREES. NO TEMPERATURE RECORDS
WERE SET OR TIED DURING DECEMBER. THE COLDEST EVER DECEMBER OCCURRED IN
1983 WITH A VERY FRIGID 17.5 DEGREES.

THERE WERE 11 DAYS WITH LIGHT FOG AND 1 DAY WITH FOG RESTRICTING VISIBILITY
TO 1/4 OR LESS. PEAK WIND DURING THE MONTH WAS 49 MPH FROM THE SOUTHWEST
(220 DEGREES).

Snow blew through quickly today, adding about 2" to our YTD totals.

YTD snow:
First storm - 3"
Big storm - 21.5"
3rd storm - 6.5"
12/2/09 - 1.5"
12/6/09 - 10"
12/8/09 - 3"
12/23/09 - 6"
1/3/10 - 0.5"
1/6/10 - 2"
1/28/10 - 0.5"
2/7/10 - 1"
2/8/10 - 1"
2/14/10 - 0.5"
2/18/10 - 2"
2/20-2/21/10 - 6" - more than anticipated, and still snowing, may need to update this tomorrow.

it didnt blow through all that quickly down here in the metro. Pretty much snowed all day, although from about 8-11 int he morning was more flurries. After lunch it kicked up. Driving was horrendous last night. I was pleasantly surprisec and ended up with around 4 inches. Pretty decent for a dry arctic storm, but it was fluffy. I didnt have anything left on the ground frmo the other except the shaded sports. South side of my street was still pretty snowpacked though.

For the season my snowfall dowtown stands at about 45 inches....not bad for January, and the snowy months are yet to come.

not surprised its been over 10 days without a post on this thread. prettty balmy lately for January. I went around in short sleeves today! No big snows on the horizon either. Next precip bearing system appears to be beyond 5 days and nothing really wet until probably beyond 10 days. I did my first winter watering this weekend. No snow left in the yard. Some things to look forward too...cooler temps later this week but not much snow...possibly better pattern for storms by the end of the month. CPC favors near normal temps and above average precip for the 6-14 day period. In the meantime, will try to enjoy the Denver winter sunshine.

This pattern has truly killed the majority of my winter weather excitement that the early storms brought. Don't see any huge changes on the horizon either, which is also killing my mountain time. :(

Winter may actually return on Sunday. Maybe this thread can be brought back to life.

well the freak 4 inches of snow I picked up overnight/this morning seems like a good enough reason as any to resurrect this thread. I saw the front come in last night and light snow started around 2 AM, but I did not expect this much accumulation. Forecast was for less than 1 inch. I love when its a surprise...somehow its like being a kid again waking up to snow that you didnt expect.

Just waiting for the transition from our 6th snowiest month (feb) to our 1st (March). I suspect this thread will get busier in the weeks ahead. Anway, I'll enjoy the few inches we'll get tonight.

Picked up about 3.5" here in Broomfield. Started around 4, but really had some dry slots work through. Sat/Sun is looking better!

Bring on the nukage!

Havent gotten the yard stick out yet but looks like we got a few inches last night on top of what was left from the thursday night system. Should have 1-2 more tonight per the NWS. Still snowing here.

Snowed pretty good here for a time this evening. Up to about 5.5 inches in the sheltered areas that didnt have melting on Friday.

This Sunday storm is just a hair too far south for us. We can hope for a wobble north!

Can't wait for the typical March/April El Nino pattern to set in. Prepare for a huge dump!

Hi Guys! No pattern change yet. Friday may bring a bit of snow with the front and low dropping by, but wow, boring 2010 thus far.
