It's going to pick up nicely for you within the next hour or so. Big fat flakes here atm. The grass and cars are covered.

Explain this. Still gonna happen? Evening forecasters said that snow/light snow/flurries would stick around till 7:00am.

I'm not so sure about the western end of the metroplex, but generally from Dallas county eastward should have lingering snow showers (moderate at times) while the low is cranking up. It's going to drag a lot of the snow in Oklahoma due south. The closer you are to it (it's going to sit and spin around Tyler) the better your chances.

1.25 mile visibility at DFW

Thanks, it looks like more light snow is backbuilding and developing in Parker county and Jack county and parts of Palo Pinto county, is this going to a trend like we have seen with multiple other winter systems where a training light snow develops over the metro and imediate surronding areas?

It's been snowing hard at DFW for over an hour, and our house in Southlake has the yard covered in the white stuff.

Keep an eye to your north. Whatever builds there is your best shot.

Got a dusting appearing - in drifts!

I'll be surprised if we don't see at least an inch out of this here in Garland, but I'm hitting the road to find more. Based on the radar, Gainesville seems like a good place to look.

There is a lot of blowing snow out there. Visibility is under a mile in some cases so drive safely. I think you'll see more snow later tonight if you drive closer to Paris, Tx. RUC dumps 3-4 inches there through morning as the stuff from Arkansas wraps around.

Also around 2-4 am there's heavy back building from the metro and just north\northeast.

Just measured about an inch on the grass and 1.5 or so on top of the car.

Heavy batch is moving due south out of Oklahoma. FW also changes thoughts and sees the slowing down of the bands.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
1159 PM CDT SAT MAR 20 2010

.AVIATION...

FOR THE 06Z TAFS...PRIMARY FORECAST CONCERNS CONTINUE TO BE THE
SHORT TERM SNOW FORECAST. THE BAND OF HEAVIER SNOW HAS SLOWED DOWN
TO THE POINT THAT IT HAS REMAINED NEARLY STATIONARY OVER THE PAST
HOUR. THIS SEEMS PRIMARILY DUE TO REGENERATION OF SNOWFALL ON THE
WESTERN EDGE OF THE SNOW BAND AS IT TRIES TO MOVE EAST. BECAUSE OF
THIS BACKED UP THE IFR VSBYS ASSOCIATED WITH HEAVIER SNOWFALL
RATES THRU 07Z AND KEPT MENTION OF SNOW IN THE FORECAST THRU 11Z.
MODELS CONTINUE TO POINT TO SNOW MOVING OFF TO THE EAST BEFORE
SUNRISE...SO IMPROVED CONDITIONS TO HIGH MVFR AFTER 11Z. AFTER 15Z
THE PRIMARY CONCERN TRANSITIONS TO SURFACE WIND FORECAST. THE 00Z
NAM CAME IN WITH SUSTAINED WINDS OF 25 TO 30 KTS FROM 18-21Z NEAR
DFW TAF SITES. THIS COULD CREATE DANGEROUS CROSSWIND CONDITIONS
FOR NORTH/SOUTH ORIENTED RUNWAYS. WINDS LOOK TO DIMINISH QUICKLY
AFTER SUNSET ON SUNDAY.

Visibility is under 1 mile at DFW. I would be surprised if the airport doesn't get the 2 inches it needs for the record by morning. I have nearly as much snow as Christmas, almost the exact same way.

Latest RUC has the band really intensifying the next few hours.

Well I have just under 3 inches of snow on my back patio in Southlake. I think DFW has hit the 2'' mark...

Wow much more than I expected considering the initial forecast. I am up working with the blinds open. I love it! :D
Its coming down pretty good here in Dallas. A few more hours of this and we can have 3 inches before its over. Probably break that record.

Going to be close but it seems like DFW airport should break the record.

I still see a big push from the developing wrap around in southern/eastern Oklahoma drive west then south. That should probably do the trick. Someone in eastern Denton county around Lake Lewisville (heard a report of 4 inches at Little Elm) has gotten quite a bit based on radar returns as well as east of Gainesville.

Looks to be moving its way out to the east. Do you think it will stay around until 6 or 7 as they predicted last night?
