We in the FCPS are out of school on Monday! That's just ridiculous!

If the snow on Monday adds any significant accumulation (freezing rain is possible!), I can kiss my summer vacation goodbye.

All quiet on the Mid Atlantic Front for a while. Some activity forecast for Blue Ridge, North of Baltimore, NYC area late this weekend/early next week but nothing heavy.

Nice to see the sun out today, to dry up all the snow and ice. :sun: Everyone is beginning to smile again. :D

We're hearing of a possibility of snow around here for the beginning of next week. Everyone is so snow weary. I think that we'll all mentally brace for another 20" snow, even if it only comes to 4" in total or whatever.

I've seen so many robin flying around - I'm wondering if they're trying to will Spring to come.

It's snowing now - not really sticking to much except for the remaining snow and the grass. A little slushy on the sidewalks, patios, etc. NWS still isn't feeling warm and fuzzy about the whole forecast but is still sticking to 8 - 12" for the area:

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST FRIDAY.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEVELOPING OFF THE CAROLINA COAST WILL
INTENSIFY AND MOVE NORTHWARD TO NEAR LONG ISLAND BY TONIGHT. IT IS
THEN EXPECTED TO MOVE WESTWARD AND LINGER OVER THE REGION THROUGH
FRIDAY.

PRECIPITATION WILL BE MAINLY IN THE FORM OF SNOW AND WILL LAST
THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY. ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES ARE
EXPECTED ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. ADDITIONALLY, SUSTAINED WINDS
AROUND 30 MPH WITH GUSTS AS HIGH AS 45 MPH WILL DEVELOP DURING THE

I'm just thankful it's not another 20"! Also, my casino closed the Admin Offices again, and I'm thinking it probably will again tomorrow. They're trying to save money. February has been horrible due to the weather. :(

Sorry to hear that they closed Steph, the base closed 2 days last week and that was 2 days without pay, it stinks.

I go the same storm warning you posted for Blue Bell

I think I am going to leave here around 11, it's starting to stick here and the hubby told me at home we've got about 3 inches so far...figure if I leave here at 11 I can probaly get home around 1-2. Don't think I'll be going into my night job in Philly either, sigh

Just got this too for here in NJ:

I'm sure that there will be flooding around Atlantic City. THANK GOD the snow pack we've had has melted substantially with the strong February sun and the temps sticking around the upper 30's and low 40's. Nice a slow melt.

Today I'll have off with pay - that's the rest of my paid time off (PTO) that I have. If we close tomorrow, which I'm thinking that they will, it won't be with pay. I don't want to drive in that mess either. The company is closing due to trying to save money, but also, if you call out, it counts as a point against your attendance. It just hurts when people don't have any more time off. This is also preventing more layoffs, which there has been some already. :(

Well, no real accumulation occured during the day. The wind has picked up substantially. I guess we're fortunate that there isn't any heavy wet snow on the tree limbs in my area with this wind.

It's still snowing. It never really let up and I did see a little sun peak through the clouds this afternoon. I've been right on the southwestern fringe of the storm all day. I guess I'll see what it's like when I wake up tomorrow. Maybe we finally did get a break afterall.

Well, I left the base early, visibility was bad at 11AM...I'm at work now in Philly, it's snowing sideways and the wind is nasty..the hubby told me the ground is white at home and the wind is pushing the front door in..I'll be leaving here in about 15 minutes, sigh.

I hope this is it, I've already adjusted the food budget for the non-paydays last week, don't need anymore!

Just across the bridge from our Nation's capital it's mainly the wind gusts we're dealing with. Temp is 35 F, and cloudy, no snow. Frankly these gusts do not seem as high and frightening as on February 10 when we had snow bands causing white out, snow drifts, and gusts frequently to 50 mph. Turns out a tree fell from our yard onto a neighbors fence, but I didn't know about it until I saw DH out with the chain saw two days ago (he waited for the melt rather than using it in snow: smart man).

Wow, there was a good gust, I'd estimate about 40 mph. It's the trees and their roots sitting for a week plus in water that worry me with these winds. We're surrounded by them. Stay Vertical
