Google search for "hurricane forum." Moved to Texas from England in 2008 and
wasn't used to hurricanes, then we caught the tail end of Ike and lost power
for 5 days - that got my interest.

Wow I'm within 50 miles of the member above me! :P I found out this forum after google searching winter weather and maybe winter weather texas. One of the threads here popped up in the searches. I've been browsing this site since early December of last year.

I Googled Texas winter weather forums. I was trying to find extended forecasts for the DFW area.

I guess I may not be quite a new member. Was on last year briefly. But still learning the ropes. I found this site through a member of another blog mentioning this site. Don't remember who though. Lol. I suffer from CRS. And small world here, I evacuated Ike to Longview. And as stated earlier we didn't completely escape it there either. Our hotel lost power also. Hopefully another slow season for us all this year.

I basically did the same thing as Denton gal. I was frustrated at the forecasts being made by the NWS in Fort Worth and I just decided to look and see if there was a weather forum, so I googled, Texas weather forum and storm 2k came up, I've been addicted ever since. It's great to get so many views of the weather, particularly with some professional meteorologists adding their thoughts to the discussion. I've always been highly interested in weather phenomenon so being able to discuss it has just been a great experience.

Heard about the site from some friends and heard it was flame free, which is nice when you just want to chime in about the weather. I'm a consulting meteorologist and I'm interested in debating and pushing my knowledge to new levels!
