Sure feels like winter this morning along the Red River. Upper 30s and gusty north winds producing a pretty good wind chill.

Was brisk and cool today, felt really nice after the humidity past few days. Patchy frost across the metroplex and a light freeze for areas outside the big cities. Protect those plants if you planted dedicates early!

The numbers on this winter's thread are amazing. Here's hoping for even more winter fun next season.

It appears that Bones was correct back on February 24th. Winter WAS over then, for Texas. Long-range Euro indicates a nice 500mb ridge developing over Texas in 10 days. Should be some nice, warm temps coming!

Looks like our chance of rain is out the window? The cockroach ridge strikes again! We need RAID, our upper level low to kill the cockroach ridge.

Look out below ( US) negative NAO to develop and set spring back late March, early/mid April n plains to mid/n atlantic states
Northern plains and mid-atlantic is a far ways away from Texas. With the PNA+ right now, look for maybe a quick cold spell when it starts going back to negative (atmosphere tends to lag). Hopefully a storm or two will dig south and cause some thunderstorm/rain which is sorely needed around here. A lot of grass fires today.

Don't forget about the Severe Weather Thread in USA Weather, guys. I know there isn't much to talk about right now but we can use it to discuss any Texas weather, not just severe stuff.

Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
Joe Bastardi tweeted this morning that there is an arctic attack coming for Plains (northern) and eastward.
But he did say that winter is over for the Plains south of I-40.
So I guess it is official...winter in Texas is dead.
But what a winter it was!!!

Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
Glad we're having a much more reasonable end of winter/start of spring. Sunshine and temps in the low to mid 80s is much better than snow. I believe that last March, Houston only saw 70 degrees once. This March, we're hitting the upper 70s to low 80s every day.

Exactly!! I posted in the SE TX thread that we are running above average even though it is nice. I hope it doesn't keep this up all year!!

A final death throe of the winter of 2010-2011 in Texas... Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the 80s. Could be just a little warmer, though.
