cold temps in Appalachians...elevated.snowflake watch?

#1 Postby cpdaman » Sun Oct 03, 2010 3:50 pm

wonder wether there could be some snowfall above 4000 feet? esp... as an upper low with thicknesses borderline 540 ..(esp WV) some high elevations could see it......850 temps are progged to be around 0-1C at their coolest so wether some heavy precip could come down it remains pretty possible IMO....esp if 48hrs out 850 temps stay or nudge down.

spruce knob wv (4800')....(46/43 a 3800')
Mt rodgers , va (5700') (43/41 a 4000')
Mt. leconte tn (6400')
Beach mountain, NC 6000 (currently 39.7/39) @ 4960'

seems like the best shot would be between tuesday early am or tue nite/ wed am...in the above mentioned areas

per 12z euro 12z gfs , nam etc.

currently temps are AROUND 40 f....in the 4500 ft. range in western NC..... "fox run" beach mt. 39.7 dp 39 WOW.
