North and South Carolina Winter Thread 2010-2011

Did they forecast the 'blizzard' conditions at the Outer Banks today? I am wondering what they are calling for in Central NC and the coast for Tues/Wed now. These storms seems to slow down and do alot of difference from what they call?
Anyone have an idea of what we are looking at for Tues/Wed in Central/Sandhills, NC? From reading American Weather they are a little unsure as well?

???BLIZZARD CONDITIONS?? Savannah was so close but yet far away.

Yep...the coast saw anywhere from 2 to 7 inches, with the higher amounts closer to the coast.

There were no warnings issued correct. Must have surprised lots of people. We got a surprise too. LIGHT RAIN.

They had advisories up, which were changed over to winter storm warnings earlier today.

Well the GFS was right after. Charleston nws said it was being the most agressive with precipation.

Actually I don't think any model saw the surprise snowstorm of yesterday in eastern NC. Even our local met only predicted upto 1 inch in the extreme eastern portion of carteret county and that was only 30% as of late friday night.

Snow this Wednesday - Thursday? How much do you think we can get. I live in the Sandhills.

I'm expecting a dusting to an inch here to the south of Columbia, but from what I'm seeing in other states, I wouldn't be surprised if we possibly ended up with 2-3 here.

Just read an update on NOAA and they sound a little apprehensive as well. They have advisories and warnings and watches all over NC, but where I live - just west of Fayetteville - we have no warnings at all - kinda splits the state. Very hard to read what will happen, just have to wait and see. Also sounds like they have raiaed the qpf rate. Take a look at what it dropped in ARK and we may have a very sneeky storm.

Winter Weather Advisories extended to most of the Midlands of SC. I agree with you hcaeb with the potential for this storm to be a sneaky one for the Carolinas.

Statesville NC which is North of Charlotte they are only calling on 1/2 an inch. I would love to wake up to 5 inches.
