Feel free to do that. It should be in the USA and Caribbean Weather forum.

Going through all of the runs and data, even though La Nina is quickly fading (if not gone) the atmosphere is still lagging and Nina style pattern has fully set foot. Again I have no skill in severe storms, but from storm tracks etc most of the severe weather is going to be shunted to the southeast and ohio valley for the next few weeks I think. We'll (Texas) mostly be too far south from the ejecting lows out of the rockies and be influenced by SW flow aloft much of the time (capping). Still no unusual cold for March in the foreseeable future, PNA is miserable.

Blech.

Only "winter" weather on the horizon here in the Red River Valley is a run at freezing temps this weekend.

I don't think so Ntxw. The storm track looks like it will shift back south in about 10 days and a lot of Texas could get more drought relief by the middle of March. Euro and GFS and their ensembles have been showing this for a few days now.

^ I hope I am wrong. A week or so ago the models kept trying to push the storms south with rain for Tx this week and now all go north with not much for the same period. -PNA does dig them further south out west, but they have a tendency to recurve northeast coming out of the rockies. We aren't getting STJ systems in the near future which is where most of the big rains come from usually compared to what the models are showing.

Yes, about 20 degrees too cold for me (mid 60s for highs) this weekend. I can't stand riding with a coat, tights, full-finger gloves and a hat, as I would in 60-deg weather. Has to be over 75 degrees for me to bike in shorts/short sleeve. Over 80 for sleeveless jersey. 85 is just about right so I don't get chilled on a long ride.

Ended up finishing 2nd in our office forecast contest again this month. But I'm in the lead. I'm thinking that the lowest Houston may see in March will be this weekend - 42 to 45 degrees. That will be my entry for coldest temp in March.
