RECORD EVENT REPORT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
911 AM CDT WED APR 24 2013

...RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE SET AT DALLAS-FORT WORTH ONCE AGAIN...

A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF 37 DEGREES WAS SET AT DALLAS-FORT WORTH
THIS MORNING, APRIL 24TH. THIS EXCEEDS THE OLD RECORD OF 41 DEGREES
SET IN 1995.

Yesterday was 41 which tied the record for that date. Tomorrow's record is 33 degrees which looks safe due to some clouds but we'll be in upper 30s to low 40s again.

I just figured it out ... I was off by a season! We should have called Spring 2013, not Winter 2012-13, the "Winter of Wxman57's Discontent" given how unusually cold it has been!

As of right now, according to Eric Berger (it was in Saturday's Houston Chronicle), this April (if it ended now) would be the 6th coolest ever. :)

Edit: I am trying to find the article....

...WINTER PRECIPITATION POSSIBLE ACROSS THE OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS
PANHANDLES LATE TONIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING...

AN UNSEASONABLY STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS
PANHANDLES TODAY. A VIGOROUS UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS FORECAST
TO MOVE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS LATE TONIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING
...AND MAY BRING A VARIETY OF PRECIPITATION TO THE OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS
PANHANDLES.

LIGHT RAIN IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER THE AREA THIS EVENING. AS THE
COLD AIR CONTINUES TO INVADE THE REGION...THE PRECIPITATION WILL
BEGIN TO CHANGE TO LIGHT SLEET AND LIGHT SNOW ACROSS THE NORTHWEST
SECTIONS LATER THIS EVENING...THEN SPREAD SOUTHEAST TO ENCOMPASS THE
REMAINDER OF THE TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES AFTER MIDNIGHT
TONIGHT. AT THIS TIME...IT APPEARS THE EASTERN OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE AND
THE NORTHEAST TEXAS PANHANDLE WILL HAVE THE GREATEST LIKELIHOOD OF
RECEIVING SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES LATE TONIGHT INTO
THURSDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD REMAIN BELOW 1 INCH
ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS PANHANDLES.

IN ADDITION...STRONG NORTH WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS
MAY RESULT IN AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW AND SHARPLY REDUCED VISIBILITIES...
ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE EASTERN OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE THE NORTHEAST TEXAS
PANHANDLE LATE TONIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING.

PRECIPITATION IS FORECAST TO END FROM WEST TO EAST ACROSS THE REGION
THURSDAY MORNING.

THERE REMAINS CONSIDERABLE UNCERTAINTY REGARDING PRECIPITATION TYPE
AND AMOUNTS. THEREFORE...YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO STAY TUNED FOR THE
LATEST FORECASTS...INCLUDING POSSIBLE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES...
FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN AMARILLO TEXAS.

DFW could very well brush close to the freezing mark if the winds can die down. The north and nw counties seem doable, wouldn't be surprised if some traditional cold areas of SE and central Texas brush below 40. Stunning what the past 2-3 months have become, record lows are hard to come by in recent springs, not this year.

Fort Worth NWS is forecasting 34 for a low on Thursday night with a 20% chance of precip.

Don't see that forecast very often in December, let alone in early May.

The Spring of Wxman 57's Discontent continues. :D

This front is something else..

Most of the Local NWS sites dropped temps another 1-2 degrees today...

I'd think Conroe, Southern Rough and a few others will flirt with 33-34 degrees..

My farm is one of those cold spots in SE Texas under calm winds and I never thought I'd be worried about frost in May 65 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.... Heck it's rare for frost in April..

Ok something is just not right when I still haven't put my winter jacket up yet in May! This just not normal. Who knows what the Summer and Fall will bring us.

I'm not sure I want to know. Either way it might go I don't find appealing.
