Yeah hoping this one pans out. It really snuck up on them with little model consensus util today. Tonight trend continued. Nam showing in the area of .75-1 inch. That would actually be the same amount of liquid that brought us 20 inches last February. This one may not be quite as cold though, but should still be about to make a Foot for Denver with that amount of liquid. Of course last years storm did not fall on previous snow cover. Gfs a little less impressive but evn it's .5+ would get us in the territory of 8-10 inches. Discussion says some models showing 20 at centennial airport and 14 for Denver...which would be 16 ish in central Denver probably. They seem to be sticking with lower amounts of 6-10 for denver. If it were me I'd raise it to 8-12. But I'm not the met so my opinion don't matter :) either way will enjoy it tomorrow.

When that first band rolled through downtown it was horizontal snow for a few minutes and it was sticking really quickly. Looked really cool.

Edit:sorry for all the errors. iPad autocorrect....

Well it snowed to beat he band in Denver today. Have about 10 inches here by downtown. Still snowing lightly. I imagine if we can get sustained light snow the rest of the evening we'll be at a foot. But it was a messy storm no doubt. Was out and about this morning and had it not been for awd I would have easily been stuck. Still looks beautiful though!

Well, the 18Z NAM has just brought the Metro area around 1.5" of QPF. I'm starting to think we'll be on the high side of this Winter Storm Warning with over a foot. Potential to be our biggest storm in a while.

resurrecting this thread...have really enjoyed the close out of the winter. February and march were not too shabby with some really good storms...

but this is crazy. flirting with daytime low teens in April?!?!
Yesterday at 445 i was on my way home and it was 70. At 900 when I was out and about it was 32. It never really did rain near downtown. just started right as snow/sleet. As the front came the dust storm was horrendous. I could see not downtown from my neighbood just a mile east of it. Saw large tumble weeds hurling across 23rd ave in city park. My sinuses are still a wreck this morning from being out in the dust storm yesterday. Snow itself not to bad. Just amazed at all the drastic changes I guess. Dust storms, tornados, and blizzards, teens and 70s all within a 24 hr period! Gotta love spring in Colorado!

Wild!! So how much of what did you get with this storm? It was strange yesterday seeing tornado warnings right next to blizzard warnings.

officially we ended up with six inches, although I do not believe that 6 ever lay on the ground at one time. There was definitely some melting in most spots from underneath...which is crazy considering how cold it was. Just goes to show how much sun angle plays this time of year. It was in the mid teens all day and it still had trouble accumulating after sunrise. It snowed the entire day though.

Looks like another storm coming in for early in the week. That means we'll be above average in snowfall for the year, as DIA is the official keeper of the record.

However, anyone remember when DIA recorded more snow than the other official stations for a given year? Some years it seams like Evergreen can double or triple DIA's snowfall. Overall, quite the year for DIA and the Eastern plains.

Wow this csi band was epic....went from no snow to a foot from about 2:30 to 8:30 here. Roads are trash and of course it wasn't forecast! Love spring in Colorado....hopefully he can ride these wet past few weeks into a wet may and June and not have fires and heat waves this summer!

I know Estes Park NWS information is incorrect as it shows total precip at .02 yet my sis had 14 inches yesterday before last nights snowfall.

I looked back through this thread and see that I lost all impetus to officially keep up with this season's to date snowfall totals in Fort Collins at Christmas (because it was such a boring season). However, I've sort of unofficially kept approximate track of snow here at the house (in Old Town) and we were in the 25-30" range before this storm. Fort Collins has consistently been mostly missed by this season's weak storms. That being said - I measured 15" this AM. That brings our STD total to something like 40-45" - which is dangerously close to normal. Based on what I'm reading in the current NWS forecast discussion, we could easily pick up 3-6" more tonight and tomorrow which could definitely bring us average.

The even better news is that in mountains to our west (aka - the High Park fire area), there are reports of 2+ feet so far. Numerous reports out of Estes Park of 20" +. This may well be one of the most fortuitous storms in recent history.

Just to follow up - I'm now measuring 19" in our backyard in Old Town Fort Collins. That's over 3 days on warm ground, so I'm sure we've lost some in the process. This was easily a 20" storm for us. I'm very interested to see some of the final totals from the northern urban corridor foothills.

Estes Park got 12 inches of snow last night and it has been snowing just about all day. They are predicting anywhere from 20-34 inches accumulation.
