First below zero of the season

Officially 1F downtown, but I have -2F at the house. The first below 0 temperature of the season. After those -20's and -30's days which are undoubtedly in the near future ( a few months), these 0F temps might feel pretty good.

And to think, we haven't even been below freezing yet.

We were at 78º today. I've lived here 51 years and the coldest day we've ever experienced was 16º...................and seriously, it was my wedding day. LOL

Definitely don't miss the below 0's. Average temp this past January when I was in Fairbanks, AK was -31 with a week where the high didn't get above -40.

Definitely won't get that in Lubbock , but it is not a place to get away from the cold in Winter, as I you already know. I was wondering how you even survived up in Fairbanks having grown up in the South. Those temps were WAY BEYOND BRUTAL!!

Those 0F mornings sure are going to feel good when it warms up. Nothing unusual, but at the house it was -27F yesterday and -26F this morning. It was -21F at the nearest official weather station both mornings:

I have no idea how I survived it myself. I know that I can't tolerate the cold like I use to. My dog has been scared as well. We had the first snow of the season mid last month and he started barking at it when he went outside.

Salt Lake City is going to have its first below 0 temperature since 2008 tonight.

The 14 degree high temperature in Salt Lake today was the coldest high temperature since December 30...1990!
