I am not really going to base my entire opinion on the NAM but the 18z was depressing for snow totals in OKC. Guess we will see what the GFS holds.

Now that we are into RAP territory for tomorrow it is showing a moderate band of precip forming over western and central Oklahoma. And temp profiles are showing that around 6AM we will have freezing rain that transitions to sleet by 8AM which will transition to snow between 9AM and 10AM.

Glad this thing is finally on our doorstep. The OKC metro is already below freezing.

At freezing right now in Norman getting ready for the winter weather now (hopefully the early morning stuff the RAP is picking up on,which would likely be FZRA, or possibly sleet will be quite light and transition quickly to snow (most of the heavier stuff in the Friday early AM should be snow.

Yep here is the text output from the period I was talking about. It shows around 1/4 in of precipitation.

Yeah looking at the thermal variables/profiles it does seem the RAP wants to make some of the later Thurs afternoon precip into a mix of sleet and snow, although the thickness numbers seem somewhat marginal for pure snow to me,however, they are low enough for me to believe we won't see freezing rain after say noonish, which is certainly fine by me.

Well, this is gonna get ugly, overnight low was forecasted at 34, it's now 30 degrees. Every drop that falls will stick to anything.

On both the GFS and the NAM it is clear later in the week where the models set up the snow pack, if a good snow pack sets up places in Oklahoma (I would guess eastern Oklahoma)could potentially get sub-zero readings on Tuesday morning

Looking like the models had a pretty good idea of track on the precip. A lot of moisture in SW Texas coming our way.

I've got a nice sheet of Ice over everything, except the roads. Those will freeze later. It's went from all FZR to a Sleet/Freezing rain mix.

Getting first precip here in central OK looks to be a sleet snow mix.

All snow at I-40 and I-44! Perfect timing for the moisture we needed.

How long is this Round supposed to go till? I thought this was supposed to be light, only lasting a short..it hasn't stopped sleeting here in Tulsa! Could this round be overperforming before we even get to get to Round 2?

The globals didn't really have any precip in this period until the last run or so, the RAP picked up on it pretty nicely once it got within range. I am however, somewhat surprised that the precip falling here right now is primarily snow (with the occasional ice pellet), i felt thurs afternoon precip would be borderline sleet/FZRA (I would have guessed primarily sleet based on radiosonde obs early this morning)

Picked up about 3/4 inches of snow so far on the west side of the metro. Plus roads are becoming very slick with that coating of graupel that came down with the first hour of precip.

All sleet for me now after about a 45 minute lull in the precip, roads are now sleet covered and slick.
