Yeah StormingB81 may get a freeze, as well as the other areas of the NC Piedmont region by Saturday morning.

Pretty impressive upper level trough amplifying across the entire Eastern U.S. this early in the season.

Check out the link I posted above the forecast picture, it goes through his whole reasoning behind the forecast. The mid-atl is definitely cold this year, I think the south east forecast was due some ridging over the area in the models.

Hope that helps!

Three days in a row with some frost on the windshield, but this morning it seemed like it was more widespread, like on my lawn and roof top.

Great to hear about the snow in Vermont. That should make the ski resorts hopeful for a good season.

Looks like a nice warmup at the end of next week. There's some confusion on whether there will be a rain storm for Halloween. Hope not for the kids.

I was pleasantly surprised to see 15 replies in this thread already gang! :D

It was neat this AM watching the neighbors lawn turn from a grey-coated color to green as the sun beat down on it:)

Halloween could not have been any nicer for the trick or treaters. The next day, November 1, a line of nasty storms raced through PA and into NJ. The wind was already blowing steady at over 20 MPH. I walked out my front door and saw the trees moving, leaves flying and dark clouds and thought, how appropriate for Halloween. "Something wicked this way comes..."

What's been nice is that we've been able to enjoy the outside and the peak color in the leaves that started this past week. Usually, we have a storm blow through once the leaves turn and then they're all gone. It's been a nice gradual slide into the cooler temperatures this year. I hope that winter is nice a gradual too.

Gear up! First chance of the season on it's way. ECMWF has a coastal storm moving up from the Carolinas in a little less than a week. GFS has it too but is less bullish on the accumulation totals.
