Perhaps next winter we will have some winter weather. It certainly isn't happening this February or March. If it isn't going to snow, then it might as well be sunny and warm. Enjoy the extended spring this year. I see no signs of an early summer, yet.

Maybe you should take up cycling? It feels great biking with temps in the 80s or 90s. ;-)

You are correct, that is not cycling. No wind in your face (to impede your progress) and no scenery. Get out on a real bike for 30-40 miles.

It looks like most of the heavy rain will stay north of me. Also sucks to see -3C 850 temps and precip falling wasted.

Meanwhile, I am so pleased to report the Portastorm Weather Center in scenic southwest Travis County received about 1.4" of liquid gold between midnight and 5 am. Finally ... a verified forecast!

Up here in new braunfels, not necessarily a happy occasion. Here for the cremation of my beloved mastiff Samson aged 11. So have not been keeping up with the weather much

Sorry about your dog. Umm, weather update..it rained some in Texas. It is windy now. LA/MS/AL will be under the gun for tornadoes tonight. :)

Stronger NW wind and cooler temps haven't reached Houston yet. The temperature is still around 70 degrees with a 15 kt wind.

-2 and -3C 850mb temps underneath a "trowel" and it still doesn't want to snow lol. 500mb vorticity is about as strong as you can see, with sufficient surface low in the right place too. In a winter where if there is any reason for it not to snow this is the one.

Last year this was the week that began the 2 weeks of amazing frozen precip. A sleet/ice event occurred on Feb 23rd at DFW and ended the week with a 2" snow event.

It's 41 degrees with a windchill of 33 degrees here in Denison. And we've had 1.28 inches of rainfall today.

Sitting by the fireplace right now enjoying a beautiful "spring" day. :D

In just about any non-Super El Nino winter we would be starting a 3-6" snow from this setup, frustrating. Sub -3C at 850, sub 0C at 925 and 4C at the surface uggh. Been watching the RAP and it continues to slowly trend down temps tonight, 2.5-3C at the surface and maybe we could see something.

Yeah with any kind of cold air around any other year this would be a major snow event, we are underneath the deformation band. But in 2015-2016 just cold rain, hey no complaints on the rain though expectations were low. Luckily we did not experience the tornado outbreak like they are currently dealing with in LA/MS/AL, especially given the warmth we've had.

On the rain department DFW has received a little more than an inch and a half of rain. That makes DJF over 7" which is near to slightly above normal (assuming no more rain falls by March 1st). So despite the recent dry spell it's not going to finished as a dry winter in the books. We have tallied more rain to date than last winter.

1.77 inches of rain so far in Denison/Sherman today according to KXII TV met Steve LaNore.

And some snow finally showing up on the radar near McAlester, OK (90 miles north of here) as precip winds down.
