When should we see a transition to all snow in the greater Houston area?

My street is almost clear, but hearing reports that generally roads are terrible around here. I think the difference is I barely got any sleet and no freezing rain. Powder snow on blacktop is easily melted if not insulated by ice underneath.

The High resolution model (HRRR) indicates that the sleet may change to snow by 3pm or so. Precip should be over by 5pm-6pm though.

Wide range in temps tomorrow morning on the models. I am betting that somemake single digits in N and NE TX. Models show temps in these areas anywhere from 0 to 20. Around here afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 20s, snow on the ground, dew points in the single digits to below 0 tonight and a 1044 ish high nearly overhead. These seem to be ingredients for a single digit morning if there ever was. Question is can someone go below 0. DFW may stay above 15 with heat island and no snow though.

The last time NE TX went below 0 was 1989 add best as I can tell. And last single digits along I20 in E TX was 1989 further north it had happened a few times in the last 20 years.

This has been such an epic winter for the southern half of the state. Many go generations without seeing wintry precip of credence. Multiple times this winter. Quite legendary for you folks!

26 here. Waiting for snowflakes to fall here. Likely any precip that falls here now could be snow. Everything covered.

It appears to be starting in the far NW part of Harris County and Eastward towards I-45 through the Conroe area. It is currently all snow at my son's house near US 290 and Cypress-Rosehill. Based on radar returns it appears that there may be a changeover moving in from the West in about 1-2 hours. :froze: :cold: :froze: :cold:

In 45+ years in Houston I have only seen this one other time and that was the Winter of 1972-1973.

I think that’s been the main disappointment here in North Texas. There have been a few snow showers, but no fat flakes. Last night, I could only truly see the snow if I stepped outside. Those little flakes aren’t the same.
