A lot of the precip from Decatur to Bowie and up to Wichita Falls has turned to sleet. My son called and told he heard thunder and it was sleeting like crazy, he's in Bowie.

Some thundersleet would be awesome. Freezing rain is nice to look at........in pictures only. I think DFW has a chance for sleet later today.

This keeps coming up in this thread but discussing the setup and current conditions isn't the same thing as "wanting" an ice storm. Also, the weather doesn't care what anyone wants.

We all should remember this when we complain about lack of snow . As much as we want it to happen and get emotional about it

OKC mets have been pointing out the fact that there are a lot more sleet reports coming out of TX than they expected. This seems to be giving them hope that they will get more sleet up in OK vs freezing rain.

Most of tarrant county is now at or below freezing.

Not sure why the thread is so behind.

Roads in Wise co are impassable per reports (with 3+ more hours of heavy sleet)

Parker county has deteriorated fast and is getting hammered with thundersleet. (Weatherford college and most school districts closed hours ago)

NW Tarrant has temps at 30-31 degrees with freezing rain/sleet and ice pellets have been reported on loop 820 in west Fort Worth. Tarrant is not out of the woods by any means, and the latest HRRR is showing ice accumulations for tarrant co for the first time.

Mix of freezing rain and sleet here in Weatherford. Accumulating on grass, cars, and trees. Roads are slushy and are probably hazardous. Tree limb right across street from me just now fell.

Thundering and moderate rain/sleet mix in Weatherford. Tree limbs sagging from weight.

Denver set a record low this morning and many places in OK ended up 5 to 10 cooler than models were showing yesterday. There are so many factors that influence surface low tenps that it is hard to speculate but could there be slosh of colder air sliding down?

Txdot shows i20 from Weatherford to i20/30 split as icy, also 199 from sprintown into west Fort Worth.

I'm in Keller at a high school teaching but it isn't too bad here. However, I live close to the areas that are starting to have some ice around Saginaw etc. My home weather station is dropping now pretty solidly and is 32.4.

Cold front has made it half-way across Houston. Temps around 60 just behind the front, mid 70s ahead of it. It's struggling, but should make it through Houston this evening.

Mesoscale Discussion 0082
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1244 PM CST Wed Feb 21 2018

Areas affected...North-Central TX and South-Central OK

Concerning...Winter mixed precipitation

Valid 211844Z - 212245Z

SUMMARY...A wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain will spread across
North-Central TX into South-Central OK. Freezing rain rates could
exceed .05" per hour.

DISCUSSION...Low-level warm advection has contributed to an elevated
MCS that is oriented north-south across TX. This activity is
spreading northeast into south-central OK and advancing east toward
the I-35 corridor into the northwest parts of the Metroplex.
Strongest updrafts are producing lightning, mainly south of the Red
River, and this is where the heavier precipitation is expected to
persist into the mid afternoon hours. At this time it appears the
freezing line will move little and the heaviest corridor of ice
pellets, transitioning to freezing rain, will extend from northwest
of SEP to west of MLC. Freezing rain will be common east of I-35 and
rates could exceed .05"/hr.
