It snowed in my area about 3" not on roads of course. I don't have any pictures right now, I need to finally sign up for one of those sites so I can upload pics. Sorry wxman57

If we use the Ensembles as a stepping stone, the ridge pattern in the NPO will retrograde. What this will allow is the classic bowl shaped trough over North America. Even hints of a southeast ridge. We are liable to build on the cold pattern and take course for yet potential an even colder pattern (or at least aimed better at us down the Great Plains) and including the front range.

praying this happens here along the front range.awesome seeing all of the FB post of the snow in Houston.These are memories that will last a lifetime.

Glad for you folks getting sneaux. I haven't looked thru the pages but I hope Porta got some of the white stuff as well. Meanwhile it's 24 here. This should shutdown the grass growing process.

So on the Weather Channel, our buddy Cantore mentioned the fact Corpus Christi at this point in the season had more snow than Chicago. Officially in Corpus 2.5 and Chicago season to date 0.1! Go figure! Some observers on the Southside of Corpus had 4 inches.

Good Morning sports fans.....21 @ La Casa this am, high's across the DFW area will top out in the upper 40's to near 50 today, with another over night low below freezing, but not as cold as this morning, more in the mid to upper 20's.

On this same date last year we received our 1st official freeze of the season, however it was a BUST winter with only 11 recorded freezes total. This winter will not be a repeat even with the weak La Nina because the dynamics are not the same. Going forward I agree with Ntxw, december looks pretty good for these type of cold spells, but it will be all about the ULL's on whether or not we get in on the snowy fun. I personally think Jan & Feb will be the target periods for that, but at least like I said this winter is looking more favorable for that than last year.

Just before midnight, 11:59 PM CST, Dallas Fort Worth International airport fell to 32 degrees. This was the first time since January 7th that DFW fell to freezing. At 332 consecutive days, this is the longest period without a freeze on record. The records for the official Dallas Fort Worth site started on September 1, 1898

Because it happened before midnight, technically we have strung together 2 official freeze days, yesterday and today. NAM MOS has 31F tomorrow morning as the potential third. 23F was the official reading at the airport 6:53 am this morning. Waiting to see if it got any lower between readings.

The MOS output has performed decent, a little too warm on the low even. GFS..I'm not even going to mention that..

The Canadian, NAM, and Euro all were better than the GFS for this outbreak. Relatively speaking for raw temperatures at our location.
