Just saw JB post that the MJO was in 7 almost to 8 phase. I think this played a major roll in the trough really digging down into mexico. Still buzzing from all of this.

39 degrees here now. 27 dewpoint with a thinning cloud deck. Need help to make it to 48 today. At TPB we officially hit 33 last night so till looking for our first freeze despite the 2" or so of snow hahaha.

Yeah, still too far out for those specifics...case in point, 12Z GFS ENS changed drastically from previous runs bringing the Pacific Jet into the west coast/warming up the southern plains significantly around Christmas. Lets see if Canadian and Euro follow suit...

I will never forget last year when fantasy land also showed a cold and stormy Christmas and instead we got 80s :P

So I'll believe it maybe a few days out, not before that...

It is much more realistic this year, but that's not to say it won't be 71 ahead of a strong front.

Well I'm pretty mad that the WHOLE FREAKING SOUTH got/is getting snow except for North Texas. Just wrong...so wrong. Sickening that we get shafted while places directly east like Birmingham and Atlanta got snow??

DFW's climo is not in line with those locations. While we are fairly far south, our snow threats are usually lined up with further north areas such as Little Rock, Memphis etc. The hooker systems. This is too suppressed. This is why I've always been at awe due to our latitude of Macon, GA but our snow opportunities are higher due to geography.

Yep, when 850mb temps are -5C or more (as was the case up here) the air is too cold and too dry. Storms travel the boundary between warmth and cold.

Yesterday was truly a day I will never forget. Several inches of snow fell across much of south Texas for the first time in over 10 years! SA received their most snow since the blizzard of 1985 when they saw over a foot. It was an amazing sight. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long before our next snow event!

I love how widespread the event was. Big surprise for SA and ATX, left out our Dallas brothers and sisters, but something tells me they will survive.

Same sentiments were had in early December 2009 and look how that turned out. We'll be fine up north, as long as someone in Texas got snow it's a win. At least we know it CAN snow finally

I won't lie I'm feeling very salty and bitter today about what happened down south but you know its December 8th and this is the first time its even been really cold so theres plenty of time left for us to score

On the bright side at least we werent forecast to get buried and get screwed like some people to the east. Atlanta is struggling with rain mixing. Raleigh is struggling to changeover and had clown maps with them getting a foot

This was in Northeast Brazos county at between 3.5 and 4.5 inches measured. Quite a bit had melted by morning on many places on ground. The trees and in the woods were beautiful. Had to go to work so my wife got to take some pictures for me. My daughter said she thinks she wants to change her favorite color to white :D

Nice total there. Not quite 2004 worthy, possibly since the ULL remained positive tilt, as Ntx has taught me, but it was a great spectacle for so many.

Another nice tidbit, spoke to a friend who has never ever seen snow at all and she almost cried last night when it was falling and when she woke up this morning. She absolutely LOVED it.
