Also later this week is looking mildly interesting. Much stronger storm but looking for surface cold and moisture. This coming big trough is likely to be a blizzard if it pans out with low heights.

Blizzard for us or for someone else?

Wherever it decides to snow. I wasn't mentioning a specific location but that the deeper storm will likely yield blizzard watches and warnings where it does happen.

Nice pic! Just rotate it before uploading.

Now WF folks can no longer complain this winter if snow is too far south!

Ntxw, when’s our next storm? I don’t see anything on the models for the next couple weeks that has me excited.

Later this week. But it may be too positive tilted for something major qpf wise. It is coming from the northern branch via the polar jet. A lot of Pacific storms but largely cut off from Arctic air.

EPS and weeklies are fairly consistent that after December 20th the 500mb pattern across North America shifts once again with -EPO/-NAO configuration. It's going to be a chilly and stormy Christmas.

How does the PNA look? We will be going up to KS a few days after Christmas so hopefully I can see snow either there or here while not disrupting travel. We went up about five years ago to where it took hours to go 40 miles since plows couldn't keep up. It was nuts.

This itself is a rarity

Models are actually still spitting snow over N and NE TX later today though temps in the upper 30s make it very borderline. Just a flurry at best.

It's lightening up some and the flakes are not nearly as big but it is still coming down at a decent pace.

12z Euro EPS has a huge Western Trough loaded with very cold air as we head into Christmas. The NHEMI wave pattern looks more favorable for winter wx across Texas. It is D15 but I like the setup heading into Christmas, based on this run.

It bombs out east of us unfortunately. Hopefully it can trend west.

Btw I got about the same amount of rain as you did here in Wharton yesterday. 59 corridor got walloped.
