Yukon, you kind of gave us the early heads up yesterday on this little cold front which overachieved. It was interesting late last evening to read some of the forecast discussions out of NWS offices about how this front was much faster and stronger than even the short-range, hi-resolution models predicted. I don't know, I like it when Mother Nature throws us curveballs like this ... just to show we don't know everything.

Sitting 45 degrees here in Austin with thick clouds. Yesterday the forecasts suggested low 70s today. Now, we'll be lucky to hit 60.

It surprised me as well. Everything I heard was it wasn’t suppose to come through until sometime yesterday evening/last night. By dark it was already below freezing. I’m glad I can contribute in some way!

Haha, we are about to have dual residence in Montana and Texas. I’d rather live in North Dakota than the RGV or South Florida.

I only like to sweat when I’m working out or doing physical labor.

I posted the other day of some high variance and bust potential temps for some. Return flow will make the western part of the state mild (and southern tier) but some places east of I-35 and to the north may hold in the denser cooler air. Quite a battle going. If one is in the boundary could be 40s one day 60s the next and back to 40s.

Near freezing up in D-FW but quite strong S-SW wind aloft at 850mb (5000 ft). Over 60F at 850mb over D-FW area. Very shallow surface cold air. Not much chance of any significant winter weather next couple of weeks. GFS is moving the March 2 ice storm to the 4th now. Unlikely...

32 and freezing drizzle/drizzle here in south Frisco. Earlier there was enough to get a tiny bit of ice buildup on the windshield when it was 30 but it’s mainly liquid now.

30 degrees in Denison at 1 p.m. Good fire rolling in the wood burning stove.

Very enjoyable winter day here in the Red River Valley of North Central Texas.

Very end of Feb into 1st of March looks to have some extreme cold potential, possibly the coldest air of the year for lots of Texas.

Can you explain? What will get this colder air to the lower tier of states? Is that SE ridge going to back off? It's killing us here in Louisiana.

Bubba, are you basing that off of the euro ensembles and gefs ensembles? If you have any maps, please share if you can

Well to be fair we just had coldest air of season about a week ago (23F and high of 36) . Though that's not saying much...which isn't hard to beat.

Probably should watch 92W that got started from the WWB. See what a re-curving typhoon does downstream.
