Never mind about the big Monday snow event. Now it's Wednesday of next week. Yeah, that's it, Wednesday! Winter weather coming to Austin!

Houston will likely just see a cool, cloudy day with temps staying in the 40's.

This is why I tried not to get excited yesterday. The Euro did NOT agree, and it has proven correct when the GFS ensembles show lots of snowy runs. Now, once it shows snow agreeing with the GFS, then we can get excited. I still think it will happen at some point.

As a reminder we have about 3 weeks left in the winter thread so don't take it for granted. We will move to the Spring thread for MAM, March-April-May, to stay consistent with the meteorological seasons as we have done. Discussion in this thread will close at that time.

Me too Texas Snow! I'm going to stand right next to you in solidarity. We aren't going anywhere ... of course, at this rate, we'll be here until next December.

Welp...that's usually what it boils down to. "just a cold rain".................. I doubt it changes from that, it's what we've had all winter.

As was the case last week...models are struggling with the southward push/strength of the low-level cold, the Euro in particular - trim those temps 6-8 Deg F and we have a major impact ice/sleet storm for the Northwest 1/2 of the state. Looking at the 500 mb setup, See reason to believe they are overestimating temp profiles...The models trends still look good IMO!

Just go back last week to Arctic Thunder's post on general rules of thumb for southern plains winter weather....1040 crossing Canadian border look for impacts down to I-20, well here you go!!!

Technically, the high is 1036mb (and quickly weakening) as it crosses the North Dakota border.

My peach trees are blooming like it's mid-March, pine trees are pollinating, Home Depot is selling tomato plants, I love winter, but I think it's done, placing a fork in it. 8-)

Walmart put all of their garden plants out here a couple days before we hit 17 F. Needless to say that was a giant waste. Everything up here is still in winter mode, including the Bradford Pears.
