I'll believe it when i see it

Well to be fair we just had coldest air of season about a week ago (23F and high of 36) . Though that's not saying much...which isn't hard to beat.

Well, you guys do know that we were told that there’s virtually no chance of any significant winter weather the next two weeks.

You know, according to the models. The same models that aren’t deemed trustworthy more than a few days away.

Today is forecasted to be warmer but it does not feel like it. Strong northerly winds (CAA) and overcast. No winds coming from the south today.

I have my doubts it'll get that far. Once a WPac system begins recurving this time of year, they'll usually get completely shredded and sheared to death not long after passing 15ºN. Higos '15 is a very good example.

Well I am calling the end of winter now, at least what we think of as the fun stuff for Austin and points south. I do hope I get egg on my face. Not been what we expected for sure.

This winter only goes to prove that nothing is a sure thing. Back in early November we were looking at early freezes, cold wet setup to start the season, and as we moved into December we all knew it was going to warm some. Looking towards January we all thought we would see a Greenland block and a western ridge that would allow the cold to move south.

I'll be the first to say that this has been a fools gold Winter, everything looked great on paper, but nothing was moving into place. I think we'll have a late season freeze in the first half of March, but seeing as El Nino has finally showing signs of a possible wet spring it's time to start thinking about lawn work and getting the mower ready.

Time to look forward to a cold and snowy winter of 2019/2020 :sun:

Just like before it's modeled to slide off to the east. The story of the winter.

I’d like for it to snow too. But having lived through the horrific years of drought, wildfires, low lake levels, and countless dying trees that gripped our state several years ago, I’d say that there is no such thing as a miserable rain in Texas.

Except a flood, of course.

My wife and I were talking yesterday about this. Mother Nature sure thinks the Winter is over, Crepe Myrtles and Pine Trees are blooming, Lowes has all of their massive mulch displays out, etc.

Even Vegas has snow for the 2nd time this season with another chance coming up in a few days. I hope we get a surprise soon.

That EPS mean appears to show to my untrained eye the SE ridge winning out. We can probably call it at this point barring a surprise mid-March event, which could happen. It seems we often get patterns we need in winter a little too late, so maybe we can eek something out then.
