I definitely see reasons to be optimistic but its still so early. I'm also skeptical because last year things looked good now too and still nothing happened

34f at my house in Houston. Our normal first freeze is around December 12. Will be interesting to see if we beat that this year.

Why's this place so dead.. We have 20 degree weather coming to DFW.
Still too far out, GFS showed frozen precip in this afternoon's run at 126 hours but now it's retreated back across the red river in the 18.

If nothing else, it's got me back to watching the models for the winter after taking some time off from hurricane tracking.

It’s dead because most of the discussion is taking place in the fall thread. Once December 1st hits, this thread will be a lot busier.

It sure is starting off well. I have a feeling that we will have to deal with a warm spell around Christmas but early and late winter will likely be cold. After last winter I think everyone is hesitant to hype things too much. It sure seems to be back to the 13/14 and 14/15 style NW Pacific dominance vs recent winters dominated by the tropical Pacific.

I hope so

I still can't shake the mess of last year though when it looked promising now too

Starting to look like we will get our first official freeze mid week. We shall see. Basically about a month early. Is it a harbinger of things to come or just an anomaly?
