Euro showing increasing heights over alaska at the end of its run, along with blocking retrogading back up into greenland, hmm

I mean, it's no different than storm chasing or snowbirds traveling to Florida in the winter.

It should be well known by now I’m not a fan of traveling to see certain types of weather. It just doesn’t do much for me, especially the snow part. Now a tornado for me would be a bit of a different story. A hurricane would be the same as snow. Wouldn’t really move the needle. I’ve never seen a tornado but I really want to see one so I wouldn’t mind chasing. I love the element of surprise.

I hear you.

It's not ideal having to travel in order to experience certain types of weather, but given its nature (being luck of the draw), often times it's the best shot you have at seeing those "rare" or climatologically unusual events.

I’m moving on to the Spring thread even though it’s still February. Winter is over. Today I’m pruning and re-planting.

Except for Kansas again, that would be too late.

The only good would be to stop the warm pattern for a bit.

rwfromkansas i don’t foresee any arctic air, but if we can get a ridge to build up their, looks like ensembles do have a -NAO block like feature, ensembles are trending towards below average at the end of february, so i think we will get a reprieve from these current miserable temperatures

Upper 70’s and low 80’s with lower humidity is damn near perfect for most people. You’re in the minority on this one lol this weather is nothing to complain about at all.

Cpv17 and im fine with that, it just isnt pleasent weather to me at all , i just hate the warmth alot because I spent a few years living over seas in dubai ( dad was in oil industry), where it would get no lower than 80 in the winter, and easily exceeding 105+ in the summers, that pretty much sealed the deal with me and heat, , and texas summers are just as bad, I just cant tolerate anything above 80 anymore because of the humidity here

Euro looks like it has a pretty decent front at the end of its run, if we can get a cold front every 6-7 days, that will work for me lol

If you include 2015-2016 this is now (for most) 4 consecutive failed El Nino winters (or attemps of El Nino.) Nino winters don't behave like they used to.

Models are beginning to suggest a flip to cooler and maybe wetter pattern as we head toward the first week of march, fingers crossed!

The CPC forecast looks decent for rain, not so much cold though.

Cpv17 I dont really buy the 6-10 day period being above normal precip, models really arent showing anything , its really the 8-14 day period and beyond where we will see changes potentially

Ensembles seeing a flip to wetter and cooler/chillier conditions to start march, fingers crossed!

Definitely some extreme temps for February. It’s odd to see such a long stretch of it. A couple of our smaller trees are in full bloom and lots of yards are partially or fully green.

Today and tomorrow will feel more like late May / Early June so can see why the plants are confused lol.

Yep, this weekend is perfect. I don’t care what month or “season” it is, it’s just beautiful.

It's also screaming severe weather to me, since it appears there is a trough to the west and a ridge to the east

Winter is definitely over! First 80 deg temps of the year yesterday, and more to follow today through Wednesday. My azaleas are blooming. Spring has sprung.
