FINAL FORECAST- WINTER STORM ISIS (A Pineapple Express System)
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
Monday, Jan 10, 2005 7:00 AM

DISCUSSION ... FOR ALL OF SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ALL OF ORANGE COUNTY ... SOUTHERN LOS ANGELES COUNTY ... WESTERN RIVERSIDE COUNTY ... AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY ...

SYNOPSIS....Winter Storm Isis will be the strongest of the storms, with more dynamics, more flooding, tornadoes, and Thunderstorms.
...SHORT RANGE DISCUSSION...

PRE-STORM FACTS: Nothing, the Storm is already here!

THE RAIN CHANCES We saw flooding rains yesterday, and expect this to continue throughout the day today, into tonight, and the first part of your Tuesday. The main bulk of rain will fall sometime late tonight, into Tuesday morning when the cold front finally sweeps through the air. We are under the gun of a major pineapple express, moisture from the tropics streaming into the forecast area. The rain you will see failing today, will be very heavy...You must know that this is only a precursor to what is going to happen tonight. Read more about it in the Thunderstorm section.

THE THUNDERSTORM CHANCES Unbelievable Thunderstorms we saw yesterday. This tropical air is giving us the dynamics for this. The things to mention is we had reports of funnel clouds, and Tornadoes throughout the entire forever area. A Tornado Warning was issued for the Ventura Area, however out of our forecast area at 6:30AM this morning, and continues. These dynamics will shift to the East, over us, allowing the possibility of Tornadoes to arise. Those of you near the coast, watch out for this especially. These Thunderstorms could very well rotate easily. The colder air will be moving directly overhead throughout the day, into tonight. Expect this to be the best time for Thunderstorms, that will be tornadic in nature. You must watch the local news for updates today, and tonight. If you have the weather channel, even though its not that good, watch it for the information in our area. Severe Thunderstorms will be likely, very likely, and worse than we saw yesterday. This will end Tuesday morning as only scattered weak thunderstorms could pose a small problem....
WIND CHANCES Anywhere near these Thunderstorms will be very windy. Expect the winds to be picking up, and slowing down throughout the day and night....When the cold front passes in the next 18-24hrs, expect the winds to be gusting to nearly 50MPH in some places, and even higher near Thunderstorms. Not much to say on where the best winds will strike, because this whole system is windy!

MEDIUM RANGE DISCUSSION...After Isis passes tonight into tomorrow, expect the skies to clear up! once again, warmer, and sunnier weather for Southern California.
