I'm not sure most people realize how cold it can get in that area at night, still, cloudless nights with great radiational cooling.

True. When many people think of "Colorado weather", they think of Denver. Much of Colorado is actually much colder than Denver. I actually have a book somewhere at home that says snow doesn't stay more than a few weeks below 7000 feet in Colorado. Places like Steamboat Springs and Craig are below 7000 feet, but the snow here has stayed on the ground until April or May in every year but one (2007), where the last of it melted on March 31.

Anyway, -8F (-22.2C) this morning. I don't think it will drop below zero tonight or even get close. It's snowing right now and is supposed to remain cloudy all night.

41 degrees here under clear skies and a light NW wind and a beautiful setting moon. Tomorrow we may flirt with a frost and maybe our last one of the winter season of 09/10 as well. I can hope anyway.

0F this morning. It was a bit chilly perhaps (since I rode my bike to work), but I guess it's not too bad for early March.

Last year (2009) our last official 0 or below temperature was April 5 and the year before (2008) our last official 0 or below temperature was April 1, so we're probably not done with the sub zero temperatures yet, but winter is going to start tapering off.

Right now tomorrow's temperature is supposed to hit 41F, which will be the warmest of the year (if it happens) so far. Tonight is supposed to be a very mild 21F, so it will give us a jumpstart in having the warmest day of the year so far. Thursday could even be warmer if the weather forecasters are right.

We finished February with 5 consecutive lows above freezing.

Longest stretch since 1981(mildest February on record).

Pretty amazing for Canada in February! Anyway, I checked through the official weather records. The last time we went five consecutive lows above freezing was September 16 through 20.

5F this morning, 16 degrees cooler than was forecasted by noaa. Noaa is usually pretty good with their forecast, but they missed it by quite a long shot this morning. :?:

0F right now. It may be our last 0F reading of the season. Right now the long term forecast aren't forecasting anything 0 or below for at least 15 days.

Our -10C(14F) yesterday morning was actually our coldest temperature since mid-February 8-)

We just had the warmest winter on record...and we're 2.16F above the yearly record level(and something like 10F above average).

Milder??

Yep. Check out the three day history for the nearest official weather station (it is usually a little colder at my house than the weather station):

http://www.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KCAG.html

-2F at night is definately milder.

It never did drop below zero last night. It started to snow late evening which warmed things up. Temperatures slowly increased throughout the evening and night. Yesterday's high was 12F (4 degrees higher than the afternoon high) which occurred at 11:59 pm and it's been slowly warming since then. At 6 am, it's currently 14F. I guess I won't have to bundle up to walk to work after all.
