This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Lightning display due to feeder band from Hurricane Tammy (Oct 20-21)

#1 Postby hurricanes1234 » Fri Dec 22, 2023 5:14 pm

Even though 2023 was an El Niño year and the entire Caribbean was very dry overall, there was no shortage of nocturnal lightning displays. The longest of these in T&T occurred when Hurricane Tammy approached the Lesser Antilles, inducing a strong feeder band over the Gulf of Paria which persisted for more than six hours between October 20 and 21. The thunderstorms were so intense that a special alert was issued and numerous flights in Trinidad had to either be delayed or cancelled. Here is one of my best shots.
