Thunder and some rain popping up in northern Tarrant Co.

Phew, they dodged that one, and the storm moved more east, so they avoided major hail.

I saw a stream earlier of Freddy McKinney picking up an injured family north of Abilene. Awful, glad it was made private.

Monday certainly has major potential, although the bulk of it will likely be well north of here in KS. Could still see a few cells in OK though.

Eagle Mountain Lake went from 86 to 90 percent full in two days, so nice increase from the rain the other day.

Not a lot of rain in the next few days per the CAMs for DFW, but a lot in areas that desperately need it even SW of Abilene. I think everybody except far S TX unfortunately has a shot at some more decent rain though before summer takes over.

Edit: 12GFS would drench DFW again this weekend...

My hometown of central KS keeps getting missed, but the HRRR has a complex with 2-3 inches from western right into central KS that hopefully will verify. Farmers need rain badly up there! Eastern KS is doing well, but not western/central.

Let's hope that 18z HRRR extended run is correct for early in the day on Sunday across South Central Texas. Keep those totals going forward and move it just a little more to the south.

Another day another monster tornado. This severe weather sequence since 4/25 has been wild. And it looks to continue through at least May 8 maybe longer

Unbelievable radar presentation along with maxed out velocities on that storm near Robert Lee. Something needs to change fast, or this could potentially impact Tom Green County (San Angelo) where population increases dramatically.

(1/6) Today marks the 25th anniversary of the May 3, 1999 tornado outbreak. The most infamous was the violent, long-lived tornado that persisted 1 hr 22 minutes & left a 37 mile trail of destruction from Amber to Midwest City with F5 damage in rural OK and OKC metro.

(2/6) Today we remember the 40 people that were lost. The impacts from this tornado reverberated across the world and are still felt today.

(3/6) 1800 homes were destroyed, 2500 homes damaged, and total damages estimated at $1.2 billion.

(4/6) This tornado:
- was part of the largest tornado outbreak in OK
- was the 1st F5 to strike OKC
- became the most deadly tornado in OKC metro
- was the 6th deadliest tornado in OK history
- was 1 of 3 violent tornadoes that day
- had recorded wind speeds of 302 mph

(5/6) Lessons learned:
- Have shoes on before sheltering
- Don't be on the road during a storm
- Do NOT seek shelter under overpasses
- If you can't get underground, shelter in a small, windowless interior room on the lowest level of a permanent home/building

Crazy....tornado has done a loop and is now headed NW back toward the direction where it formed. Hopefully that will weaken it as it gets cutoff from the inflow.
