Im not expecting a super dry summer, I do not believe the Death ridge will be parked over the state like last summer, in fact i believe that the high may look to be centered more over the SW to western us rather than directly in the central/ southern US, im looking at some of the 3 month outlooks from noaa, and while it will be another above normal summer, it doesnt look to be intensely as hot or as dry, also gotta factor in tropical systems, most of the below normal precipitation in those outlooks look to be just for parts of western texas through the panhandle, but central, south and se texas look to be more closer to normal if not slightly above normal in the precipitation department

A lot of chatter about a strong signal for severe weather coming back next week but it could be north of Texas.

Mini heatwave for South Texas next week. 95-100 plus where heat advisories will likely come out. 90s most of the week for the rest of the state.

Ensembles hold the Mexican ridge in place thru the rest of May.

As of 3pm, DFW eeked out a 90*F high for today before the Cirrostratus started easing in.

4th time for the year thus far...

Behind pace for 2022 and 2023. I completely forgot that by this time in 2022 we were already seriously feeling the heat. We were in the 9th consecutive day of a stretch of 15 straight > 90. And already had 4 going into May. We definitely saw that one coming!

To-date, we're only 1 day behind:

*2011
*2023

2022 may not be the best comparison because it was very much front-loaded with Summer effectively ending abruptly by mid-August.

And we're still on pace / ahead of where we we
were in:

*1998 (one of the top analogs for this upcoming Summer)
*1980
*2010 (another good analog)

Most Houston guys are on wx infinity I think.

Scary situation for inside the loop. Used to live in the Heights, stay safe everyone.

Just checked in on my family in Houston. They just got out of the tornado warning...and hiding in the closet with their helmets.

Some crazy pics on twitter of damage across Houston. Lots of high tension power lines down and windows blown out in downtown high rise buildings.

Correct! Lots of 100mph wind reports scattered around Houston tonight. Ridiculous storm.
