Besides many folks waiting to see if this won't be yet another rug pull for DFW (as we discussed earlier, and the jury is still out on this), in all fairness, the setup today (for what it is) does pale in comparison to what is looming this weekend as well as what happened yesterday.

Sunday looks worse.

Insane tornado. Might be the strongest of the 2020s so far, even beating Bassfield, Mayfield, and Rolling Fork.

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

REALLY dark in Las Colinas just east of the big airport, but nothing formidable heading our way yet.

The real story with these storms so far is that they seem to be prolific lightning producers, per tracker.

That southern cell on the Denton/Tarrant County line could be an issue.

2 consecutive of big hail for that area of Texas. Brownwood in the crosshairs again.

We JUST missed out on the hail core moving through the northern part of DFW (probably by blocks), but we are getting solid sheets of rain and some gusty winds on the southern fringe.

The Colony to Allen line looks to have gotten some small hail per radar.

I'd say the early initiation with the front surging southward faster than expected, as well as the lack of surface heating beforehand (since we were socked in low clouds), kind of did DFW in as far as not realizing the full potential with this setup.

But yeah, it seems there were plenty of low-end severe hail reports in the northern suburbs (quarter to half-dollar size) thanks to ample elevated instability and vertical shear. So while underperforming, not a total bust.

Also, lightning just struck a transformer here and the power was out for about 15 seconds (it's back on now).

I am concerned about the situation in Brownwood, and I sincerely hope that the safety of everyone is the top priority.

That is a massive supercell headed straight for it.

Monster storms across West Central Texas into Central Texas are the main areas to watch. Brief Tornado touchdowns west of San Angelo and another tornado warned storm now over Goldthwaite.

Kind of surprised DFW got whiffed again. Looked to be otherwise early on, but they didn't get very strong. Now it's pretty chilly. Those storms down south and west look intense though.

Mini hail storm here without much rain. Marble size at best but still sounded like Armageddon.

Just over 2" in SE Denton county. Looked like a bust at first but that second storm brought some torrential rains with it.

It’s bone dry out my way. Wouldn’t be surprised if my area is added into the drought with the next update. Ground is hard as a rock and grass is withering up. Crazy because at my sisters house just 30 minutes north of me in East Bernard they’re waterlogged. They’ve had about 8” in the past month compared to my 1”.
