Cold weather fans like me will definitely enjoy this quick cold blast as after this there doesn’t look to be anything else of significance in terms of strong cold fronts on the horizon, with the NAO going positive and the PNA going negative.

Nice cool down coming up over the next 3 days which makes sense with the current -NAO & +PNA, but could had been even a colder period had it not been for the progressive pattern across the US over the last few days.
Back to the 80s this weekend into early next week with the NAO going back to the neutral territory and PNA going negative.

That front keeps getting pushed back with each passing run. By then the dreaded SE Ridge should return again.

It’s getting very difficult to get cold fronts down here it seems as of lately. It’s either get used to the 80s and 60s at night or simply just move up north.

The pattern has been VERY progressive as of lately which is why. Meaning the cold air masses just move mostly from west to east without any southward progression.

12Z Euro brushes Florida with some well below normal temps in the long-range, 216 and 240 hours shown below. The GFS is also hinting at something similar. I wouldn’t get used to the 80s since they looks short-lived:

Looks like that cold air stops just north of S Florida and gets shunted east and the NAO will be positive so the 80s will be here for awhile unfortunately.

We've got something for everyone on the docket. If you like chilly the next 3 days are going to be good. Friday we're back to normal and above by the weekend. The 6-10 day tilts well above normal as cold builds out west. the 8-14 tilts back closer to normal. the long range cold projections should be taken with a grain of salt at this point (we know how those often go) but it at least seems reasonable that long term we edge back closer to normal...which, at this time of the year would imply some pretty decent weather.

More below normal temps on the way for Florida and basically the entire lower 48 if the FV3 GFS is right:

This cold front is so washed out over South Florida, it looks like the best dynamics for any kind of weather associated with it are literally thousands of miles away. I always hope for a nice pre-frontal squall line, and very rarely end up getting one. LOL I'll take it though, a couple nights of cool but certainly not cold, temps.

Not cold? Um upper 40's to mid 40's expected during this cold spell I'd say that's darn cold for our standards and certainly models have continue to trend down with those lows. I would not be surprised to see some inland areas into the low 40's. :froze:

This is the chilly weather I yearn for. Highs struggling to break above 60 here tomorrow. Bring it on

it's really nice out. invigorating cool and dry air. might not reach 60 here tomorrow which would be well below normal even by mid winter standards.

Amazing how teleconnections never fail, some areas of SE FL are as cold or colder as the western coast of FL. A -NAO always helps cold air make it down the spine of the FL Peninsula cutting off the winds from the Gulf Stream which usually warms up SE FL.
Cloud cover this morning prevented some areas of northern interior central FL from reaching freezing.
Widespread frost is forecasted for areas north of I-4 but I doubt it because more cloud cover is forecasted to move over tonight. IMO.
