Only a matter of time before fires start breaking out across South Florida.

You know I was being sarcastic when I wrote that.

Wet Season start Take 2 come this weekend into next week on the Treasure Coast.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Melbourne FL
304 PM EDT Thu Jun 10 2021

.DISCUSSION...

Saturday-Sunday...The ridge axis will remain south of the area
this weekend as an upper-level trough digs southeast across
southeastern CONUS. Low level west-southwest winds will increase
and continue a better setup for afternoon shower/storm development
across east-central Florida through the weekend. Isolated to
scattered showers and storms are possible Saturday pushing
eastward across the central Florida peninsula during the afternoon
and offshore. A better chance for rain will come on Sunday as a
decaying wave moves through northern Florida with the associated
low pressure center tracking through the Carolinas before moving
off the Atlantic Coast. Scattered-to-numerous showers and
thunderstorms will develop by Sunday morning and increase in
coverage by the afternoon hours. Highs are expected to reach the
low-to-mid 90s with lows in the low-to-mid 70s.

Monday-Thursday... The longwave upper-level pattern will become more
meridional to start off the workweek with multiple shortwaves moving
along the jet axis through mid-week - keeping a mid/upper level
trough in place over eastern CONUS to start off the week. Meanwhile,
a mid/upper level ridge will remain parked east-southeast of the
Bahamas. Rain chances will continue as multiple disturbances move
through the southeast as the upper-level trough deepens over eastern
CONUS. Area-wide showers and storms are expected each afternoon
through mid-week before a ridge builds over the eastern half of the
country to end the workweek. Temperatures will remain in the low 90s
for highs with lows in the low-to-mid 70s.

If this is going to be our new normal, I may cry. I certainly can’t move out of SW Florida. My whole life has been here.

The longer the rainy season delays the faster we catch up...at least it seems so. To the extent that is true it is likely a function of less rain = warmer shelf waters which eventually boil over into robust convective events. Lots of upper 80's near shore in the gulf so we're getting into that convective hot zone.

Finally got some rain in Broward... only a few passing showers so far, but it was a welcomed sight.

Brevard county is jackpotting tonight. As long as someone is getting good rain I'm satisfied.

Finally..... (at least for those of us Florida inlanders and East Coasters LOL), rainy season looks to begin.

Still haven't really cashed in with a storm since early May in my area. E flow, SW flow, doesn't seem to matter much. Maybe today will be the day.

Here in my little corner of St Pete, no rain. It's been all around. I'm still hoping maybe tonight or tomorrow.

Still no meaningful rains in North Pinellas county, we may need a pattern shift which could occur late this week to green things up and fill the local ponds.

Same here in Carrollwood ~8 miles north of Tampa. The heavy rains have been all around me here for the last several days. So much for the 70% rain chance today. Maybe tomorrow? I can only hope.

Didn't quite hit the jackpot yesterday, but at least it did rain beyond more than a sprinkle, and I did hear a little (but not much) thunder.

I've noticed something over the last several years. Whenever we're in W-SW general flow, here in Miami the heaviest convection seems to stay both south of Kendall Drive and north of the airport expressway/Julia Tuttle. If a line or blob of storms approaches, 9 times out of 10 it mostly splits north and south, as if there is some kind of force field over central Miami-Dade. Seems to happen a lot. Maybe just repeated coincidence, and one year my area will be the one getting slugged repeatedly, but who knows.

Go figure. After posting earlier last night the rain gods must have heard me complain. Finally after several days of missing the big rains, heavy thunderstorms occurred early this morning (~4:16AM - 6:33AM) on moist southwest winds off the Gulf of Mexico dropping 1.64" of much needed precipitation. Hoping it continues! :D

I would like to thank every South Florida poster who thumbed their nose at Mother Nature last week for bringing on this deluge.
