noticed that, normally I'd be extremely skeptical of a Texas threat in October but the general pattern with the hot ridge there's a chance it actually could move towards Texas

The GFS did show it yesterday beyond 300 hours near TX

Well I was hoping for an air conditioning break at the start of the month. I look for an a/c and or heater break in October-November. It is so dry and dusty my allergies are acting up in a period of the year where they never exist. Even some trees are losing color not from the change of seasons but from the heat and lack of rain. What is rain?

Well to be fair the next few days is still relatively nice and not far from average. It's next week that will be above normal. Luckily also above normal in October is not quite the magnitude as it is August, still though would like some cold fronts meanwhile.

While in la-la land, both the 0z and 6z GFS show a stout cold front around mid October. Keep hope alive!

Porta..I agree....I heard October 10th....and it is looking more and more like your Indians might get the number one seed....

If the Tribe is fortunate enough to make it to the ALCS, the latest GFS shows high temps in the low-mid 50s during that time frame. Might be a bit chilly for those Astros if they make it that far as well and have to come to Cleveland!

The airport has picked up 0.16" of rain today and 0.17" of rain yesterday. That's the monthly total of 0.33" to date with 2 more days left. Average to date is 2.40".
September will likely finish above normal temperature departure and below normal precipitation for DFW.
Of note on this day back in 1908 was September's record low of 40 degrees!

some good news while the weather does look boring and above normal next week, it doesn't appear we will be setting record highs like was thought a few days ago. Most days will probably be in the mid-upper 80s or near 90 at worst. We have been well into the 90s in prior Octobers.
