Im holding on to hope that this system ends up being a massive bust and that we dont see much rain for the eclipse, thays the last thing that we need, the rain can stay away, because we likely wont get another chance to see an eclipse again for a long LONG time

2045 for Tulsa anyway although technically we're not even in totality next week

Lmao ikr there was one north of here in 2017... The hype about this thing has gotten a tad ridiculous imo

It depends on the type of eclipse, a total solar eclipse occurs every 18 months or so on average , but i sure as hell am not waiting another year and half to view one

Apparently there isn't a total solar visible in the CONUS again til 2044 so yeah there can be a long return time on those

There was a lunar eclipse in October

There won’t be another total in DFW for 300 years, so it’s a big deal. The annular ones are neat but nothing like this.

I am bummed it’s looking wet but we likely won’t have a good idea until Thursday or so.

It hopefully will change.

10 hatched is back, this time for Tulsa and Joplin. Still 30# hail area but expanded quite a bit. If morning models runs look similar to this evenings I think we could see a 45# hail area added. Was back in the Tulsa area for Easter today and if it wasn't for a busy next few days of class I'd probably stay here and see how this plays out. But I guess I'll see we what we end up getting in Norman. Looks like April is gonna start off with a bang around here.

This will be the one time a 10 day forecast for clouds is spot on. I'm expecting thick gray overcast.

The models continue to trend more solid towards a southwest trough. This is the more concerning thing rather than long term cloud forecast. A big SW trough in middle of spring draws up moisture (and cloud decks) from the Pacific. This is recipe for rain.

Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected late this afternoon and evening. This threat will be greatest near and north of I-20, but isolated severe storms could develop anywhere in North and Central Texas. Initial storms in western North Texas late this afternoon could be capable of very large hail and have slightly increased potential for tornadoes. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats.

April is severe weather season for much of Texas, so wouldn't be out of realm. Synoptics is set up as currently modeled, is for rain and storms.

Jet streak is hinting at SW flow a loft from the Pacific.

So Texas is pretty much guaranteed to get clouded/rained out on eclipse day even this far out?

I’m like this close to scrapping my trip and just settling for the 90% partial in CT. At least I’d actually see something that day.
