Coming into Philadelphia from NJ wasn't that bad. However trying to come in from the northern and western suburbs of Philadelphia was almost impossible! I've never heard of so many roads flooded out around Philadelphia before! Literally, there was only one good way that people were able to get in was via Rt. 476 to I-95.

I saw that there are evacuations going on for those people in the middle of PA that live/work along the Susquehanna River. That river runs right by Wilkes Barre, Scranton and the capital city of Harrisburg.

I feel like I can't get dry. It's either raining or if the sun is out it's God-awful humid!

Pa. flood mark revised; levees in 'extreme stress'
Officials warn residents that floodwaters tainted with sewage, toxins

*snip*
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Northern stretches of the swollen Susquehanna River began receding Friday after days of rainfall from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee flooded communities from Virginia to New York, leading to evacuation orders for nearly 100,000 people. At least 11 deaths have been blamed on Lee.
In Wilkes-Barre, officials said the levees holding back the Susquehanna were under "extreme stress" but holding.*snip*

I'm going to make a prediction right now. Next year, 2012, will be the driest year on record in the Mid Atlantic and the Northeast. We've been through so many weather extremes, here and nationwide, that it's almost to me, a logical conclusion.

I wish I could take the exact opposite of this for Texas and the Southern Plains!! Unfortunately, based on some weather patterns already happening, I don't think I can. :x
Did you notice the map above your post? Do you see any rain in TX? Just making sure I didn't miss something. :cheesy:
Why does it have to be extremes? Just good ole middle of the road regular weather would be nice for once!!!

Actually down here in the northern Shenandoah Valley we have been in a drought, about to lose a lot of pasture until the remains of Lee came through. Now looking pretty good.

No, unfortunately I didn't see anything about rain for Texas. However, it just seems like extremes in weather is more the norm now, like a pendulum and I think that that's what is going to happen, no more "average".

Wow, I had gotten a tweet yesterday that over 2 FEET of rain had fallen on Philly since August 1! If this was snow and my figures are right that would have been 240 inches!!! I would have loved that :ggreen:

Anyhow here we go....again:

Lansdale, PA Weather Advisories, Watches & Warnings
FLASH FLOOD WATCH
in effect until Thursday, Sep 29, 5:00 AM
...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF NORTHERN NEW JERSEY AND PENNSYLVANIA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN NORTHERN NEW JERSEY...SUSSEX AND WARREN. IN PENNSYLVANIA...BERKS...BUCKS...CARBON...CHESTER... DELAWARE...LEHIGH...MONROE...MONTGOMERY...NORTHAMPTON AND PHILADELPHIA.

* THROUGH LATE TONIGHT

* THE MOST DANGEROUS CONCERN BETWEEN NOW AND 10 AM IS FROM SUSSEX COUNTY SOUTHWARD IN NORTHWEST NEW JERSEY WHERE EXCESSIVE SHORT TERM RAINFALL IS OCCURRING. RESPONSES WILL BE VERY QUICK THERE AND EXPECT WIDESPREAD LOCALIZED FLOODING THERE.

* OTHERWISE THIS MONTH...9 TO 11 INCHES OF RAIN HAS OCCURRED FROM PARTS OF THE PHILADELPHIA METRO AREA OUT TO READING AND NORTHWARD TO ALLENTOWN AND MOUNT POCONO...MAKING THIS A TOP 5 WETTEST SEPTEMBER IN MANY LOCATIONS WITHIN THE WATCH AREA.

* THE URBAN CENTERS IN THE WATCH AREA AS WELL AS PORTIONS OF BERKS...MONGTOMERY...BUCKS...CARBON AND MONROE COUNTIES IN PENNSYLVANIA ARE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO VERY FAST RUNOFF AS ARE SUSSEX AND WARREN COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST NEW JERSEY.
