Do we really need this thread now? If so, shouldn't you start one for 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 just to be covered?

We could start making guesses as to how wet this Autumn could be.

Since I was making maps for the winter thread, thought I'd just throw a couple here since it's hot outside. Top 5 El Nino events feature below normal Falls (this is going to be a top 3 event). The cold anomalies peak in November.

Until then, we suffer. Ughh....Could this be an early Fall or a Climo one? ( first front I mean...September 25 is climo...)

Been doing lots of homework and looking at data from 1957 and 1972 seasons. For my Houston comrades, i highly suggest you look at the type of weather experienced during the 1972-'73 DJF season. I dont know of any other season where we may have had more winter weather events.

Start here.

Trees are starting to change colors already here, and squirrels are fighting for nuts, it's a bit early for that here apparently, hopefully that's a sign for much colder days to come! I would love to flood you guys with cold, especially since I'll be spending most of December at home. :D

Fall is here! (Meteorologically)

For something fun lets do a poll/game this season. This is a test run, any suggestions PM me! For the three major stations (DFW- Dallas, IAH- Houston, and KAUS- Austin) predict when you believe the temperature will first fall at 59F or below. I selected this number because typically that does not happen until after the fall equinox and essentially it takes a significant front to do so and consider it "chilly" :cheesy:. You will have the next 7 days starting on Sept 1st through Sept 7th (11:59pm CST) to post your prediction. You do not have to select the same date for each. I'm going to start first and to make it easy if you could post in that format and I will make a list.

Month then Day

DFW- 9/25
IAH- 10/3
KAUS- 10/2

Point summary:

You will receive one point per day, before or after the occurrence, per station. The lowest cumulative points of all three stations wins!

******************************************
As a reference if anyone needs it for climo

Average date for 59F per station

DFW- 10/8
IAH- 10/22
KAUS- 10/5

*Note: This is not average first day for 59F; just when the average low temp is 59F

Hmm if I decided to base my predictions on the latest GFS run then I would the 17th of September for DFW, but that wouldn't be smart, so I'm going to wait till Friday, see if any other models start to show this possible mid September cold front then post my predictions.
