Today reminded me of the April 2014 outbreak all the intense supercells where father north. They are reporting a child fatality :(

TWC keeps implying that the threat will maintain or even increase overnight but that doesn't appear to be the case as the storms seem to be getting fewer/less impressive with time.

*the two supercells in south central TN remain impressive looking.

I agree they over blew it with the Torcon the violent tornado threat was only centered around the northern parts of MS and TN.

Should have been a TORCON of a 4 or a 5 given the actual activity. Few, but intense tornadoes

Should not be any such scale. Leave the classifications and naming to the official agencies.

Private industry is quite capable. Why do some believe only the government should issue weather products when private industry FOR THE MOST PART, does it better?

Forbes simply made a BAD forecast for yesterday. It did not surprise me at all based upon the high res models showing next to nothing for Alabama

Forbes is as good as anyone IMO but he's not perfect. He's an oasis of sanity at TWC. Verbatim, his forecast was off but it was legit to warn for this event which, as I understand, has now claimed 8 lives. we can be thankful it wasn't worse. Like many high end weather events, the ducks need to line up perfectly for extremes to be realized. the potential happens with far greater frequency.

But I think he's been sucked in to the insanity. I feel he'd be better with another company that's less focused on sensationalism and ratings.

I think his forcast should have been more consentrated up north where they had that long tracked, violent tornado which bulldozed through. He gave my area a 6 on that scale and we saw nothing and the cells that did form fell apart. But we had rain for two days straight so that was a likely cause of the atmosphere not being primed further south.

even where they had the long track tornado, a 5 seemed more appropriate given the amount of coverage on the high res models. Few supercells were being predicted yesterday

Severe weather is trying to crank again with southern AR/northern LA a hot spot for tornadic supercells.
