Please say a prayer for CajunMama today

#1 Postby Jagno » Sat Aug 13, 2016 5:53 pm

As most of you know, we are experiencing massive flooding events here in Louisiana. Cajun Mama's home has taken on water and the rain doesn't seem to be letting up. She is safe for the moment but she will have a very long road to recovery.

That is awful CajunMama. My thoughts and prayers to you. Just goes to show you don't need a named storm to cause serious issues.

You are so right Gatorcane!! If this had tracked about 100 miles South of where it was she/we along the Gulf Coast would have been dealing with even bigger issues, if one can imagine that after seeing what is going on in S LA. I had 4.25" last night and srainhoutex had 8.27" about 8 miles NW of me. Hoping this kind of rain is over for all of us. Keeping CajunMama and several other friends affected in our prayers.

Oh hey y'all!!! Thanks for the concern. Been busy clearing out the house and just saw this. What a fine way to declutter  Got a rental today and will probably be in there for at least 6 months.

Thanks y'all. Your prayers and thoughts are very appreciated. The inside is 1/2 sheetrock and 1/2 exposed studs with all the flooring ripped up. I'm picking out flooring tomorrow. I went by the house today and it actually felt dry inside. The dehumidifiers and my ac all said there humidity was about 51% in the house. We're getting there!!!!!

Wood measured 12% moisture today. Insulation & Sheetrock work can begin!!!!! Flooring and paint picked out. Now I just need my insurance $$ to pay my contractor. Insurance sure wants your $$ right away but doesn't like to give it back right away.

It's almost 3.5 months. I'm still in a rental and so ready to be in my home. My contract said Dec. 1. That's not happening. I'll be lucky to be in after Christmas.

After over 5 extremely long months I finally moved back into my home last Friday. There's still some work to be done on it but I'm home. It's been an experience I hope to never go through again but I Pretty much got a brand new house house out of it.

Floods cause disasters where ever they approach and it is more difficult to dry out water-damaged building. Your home would have required a lot of construction work after the damage. Even rearing the house is not an easy task.
