Breaking news it is raining at DFW airport! Would be funny if more rain fell today there than all of May

I'm jealous of you DFW folks, but happy for you at the same time.
It was supposed to be raining most of this week. I have not received a drop (measurable drop) of rain since the storm late Sunday afternoon. Our best bet looks to be Sunday into Monday at this point, and that's not a guarantee. I was holding off on washing our cars, but I could have easily washed them this week. Weed need all the rain we can get before Texas Summer choke-holds us in its merciless, relentless grip.
Ahh well.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX
241 PM CDT Thu Jun 1 2017

.SHORT TERM (Tonight through Friday Night)...
Scattered showers and storms across the eastern CWA should diminish
around or shortly before sunset. HRRR and 4 KM TT WRF indicating
some upstream convection across the Big Bend and higher terrain of
Mexico making it into at least western Val Verde county 02Z-05Z this
evening where it will decay. HRRR slightly farther east into
Edwards, Kinney, and Maverick before dissipating. Less coverage in
storms during the day on Friday compared to previous days. Models do
indicate a mid level shortwave across West and Far West Texas sliding
east into portions of the northwest CWA Friday night. This should
allow for a better chance of showers and storms to make it east into
the Rio Grande, southern Edwards Plateau, and northern Hill Country
region tomorrow night before decaying early Saturday morning.

&&

.LONG TERM (Saturday through Thursday)...
Models have been indicating a slight downtrend in POPs during the day
on Saturday between the aforementioned shortwave Friday night and
the main trough expected Sunday into Monday. The latter will develop
from North Texas southwest into the Big Bend Saturday, and eventually
slide southeast through the area Sunday into Monday. POPs do look to
increase during this time, with main focus Sunday and Sunday night
west of I-35 and Monday near and east of I-35. A few pockets of
locally heavy rainfall will also be possible during this time. A
chance of storms may linger into Tuesday across the eastern half of
the CWA as the trough as remains close.
Eventually the main trough
axis slides off into the Gulf of Mexico and a backdoor front pushes
drier air into the area Tuesday night and Wednesday.

&&

Edit: I noticed the EWX graphic looks different from this morning. This morning, it had "isolated" chances through the period. This afternoon, it has solid thunderbolts/rain all the way through next Tuesday. Interesting! It may change back to isolated again tomorrow.
:P

Image
Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected during the next several days. Isolated strong storms are possible. Locally heavy rains are also possible and may cause minor flooding. Temperatures will average a degree or two below normal due to the clouds and rain.

And of course it's raining north but dissipating coastal activity and no sign that anything will occure for the rest of the day. The only good news is temps are not bad at all for this time of year, 84-85 degrees.

We received .4" last night and another 1.6" this afternoon here around Wharton. That now brings our total up to 6.5" since this rainy pattern has begun about 10 days ago. Cannot complain one bit.

Both the Euro and GFS are trending wetter across N. Texas for this weekend. Today gives me hope that it can still rain here

HRRR looks really encouraging for DFW later today... we may have more rain than seen since early April.

It has several inches in spots and an MCS approaching at the end of the run for evening rush hour.

the airport is cursed

Can you tell me what the Euro shows for Texas as a whole through Tuesday? Or anyone for that matter.

We got more rain in an hour (1.65) then we did all of May (1.01) at our place in south Euless near Texas Star Golf Course.

That's not showing up on that crazy map.

Please HRRR, for once get this right!

These solutions would be an awesome soaking for DFW.

Yeah that airport storm literally hovered over the western runways for half an hour while the east side got nothing before the storm meanderd northeast. Pretty neat to watch. The south end of the airport got a few drops.
