North Texas Regional Airport measured 2.29 inches.

I'd have to double-check, but I think they might be closing in on (or maybe even over) 15 inches for the month?

Crazy week, never would have believed this kind of August rainfall was possible without a slow moving hurricane / tropical storm crawling through the region.

If I could, I would share it in a heartbeat with you folks down in central and south Texas.

Absolutely insane storm last night. I've never seen lightning so close and to that magnitude. I had to go out this morning and do a count on the livestock to make sure we didn't lose any with how close the lightning was hitting the ground time after time. Also, picked up about an inch of rain.

The airport has really missed out this summer, not sure it's a representative total for the area. There was a flood warning just north of the airport this morning. I'll pull some DFW regional numbers at some point and run the spacial statistics for the area.

Yukon, yeah I thought you guys were probably getting hammered pretty good when I looked at how the radar lit up in your area late last night.

Glad you got some more rain on your pastures and thankful you didn't lose any cattle.

For summer DFW has gotten quite a bit maybe just not as much as areas east and north which is normal climo anyway, most of those counties averages more rain. You just want to see at least some fall at the airport recording station for stastics and historical purposes. I mean we don't go back and find 6-7" of rain in Rockwall county July of 1946 (not a real value) while the official station got 0" for instance.

I agree the airport is not fully representative of the whole population but it is a good compromise west to east. Overall this has been a pleasant summer for NTX. Best since 2007

Plus I want to see 2004's top spot go down :cheesy:. Had the storms this morning been 30-50 miles more west we'd be close

It's wild here in Grayson Co! The creeks are crossing roads everywhere. Watching huge logs run into my barbed wire fence now.

Some pretty good rains here in Smith County I'd say we are looking at a general 1-2" maybe a spot or two with over 2". It has been a great August after a pretty dry July here. Still sitting at only 100 degree day and nothing close in the forecast. Now just waiting on DPs to drop in Sept so our nights can drop below 75.

Over an inch of rain in the gauge here... :double: I didn't even hear it this morning lol. Apparently over 3 inches just south of me in NE Dallas

and rain chances are still high today

That's after 4 inches last weekend...

One weird summer up here

Euro has a fropa next weekend with 60s at the end of the run in DFW

GFS brings 92L to Texas as more moisture for a rain setup late next week

I wouldn't put much stock into the strength of tc formation right now being modeled by the GFS. I'm actually finding it quite comical. More so paying attention to the track, not the strength.

yeah I don't buy the GFS not forming 92L really at all, more interesting to me that it made it to Texas on the 18z.
