Even if we had the cold, would we not have the right circumstances for snow?

Looks like buying firewood for next winter will be a waste of money if 57 is gonna make it unbearably warm. He's gonna cripple the firewood industry in Texas. But maybe lawn care and pest control professionals will benefit. Heating bills will be lower, but cooling bills could be higher. Zero-sum game?

I like next winter. We will be another year removed from the temp spike associated with the Super El Nino, ENSO should be more favorable, we will be moving deeper into the solar minimum, etc.

Supposed to be around 90 tomorrow, then mid-60s Sunday. :thermo: Rain chances about nil. Gunna run my sprinklers in the morning to get them ready for the brutal Summer ahead (anticipating). I fixed a sprung leak in it doing a test on it yesterday.
:sprinkler:
Going to fly out to DC early Sunday morning through Friday of next week to see my wife's dad. Gunna be CHILLY there! :cold: I may see one last hurrah of snow before the season is officially done! Trying to figure out how many bags we will need to pack the cold weather clothes.

'Course I've already seen snow in Austin this year, so if I miss out, not a huge loss.

I'll be flying to DC on Tuesday and returning Thursday. Big hurricane drill for utilities all across the U.S. Might get some snow flurries there Tuesday, though the best chance will be Monday. I'm thinking that the ECMWF forecast for NEXT weekend doesn't look like a snow weekend for Texas (tweeted by Ryan Maue):

I guess you could try.

But your beloved bicycle might disappear and end up on EBay. We have a few friends in high places.

Summer is coming. Spring is a rather short season in Texas. Those of you who wanted winter warmth...well months and months of it for your joy on the way

Image

The CAP (EML) will be strong this spring with the drought and dry conditions in the higher terrain west and southwest of us

Image

I would watch the I-30 corridor and northeast into Arkansas, TN, and the Southeast for outbreaks when the CAP does break in more moist environment.

Latest run of the GFS doesn’t look too bad for rain across most of Texas. We’ll see.

MJO has slowed, no -SOI reflection, and no linkage to the Pacific tropics. Systems are having to draw moisture from the gulf...that usually means east of here. Delayed.

It seems like everything is always east of us. It’s quite annoying. They can get it from the Pacific and the Gulf where as we basically only get it from the Pacific.

HRRR is firing some decent storms across the NE portions of DFW tonight, Collin County gets a pretty good soaking on the latest run.
