Radar is looking decent for DFW and there is an outflow boundary moving from the NW. That might help focus showers and storms later today.

The rain event is now getting going for the Tyler area. I expect 2-4" out of this band today for us. After this band we will see where the next one is aimed before we will know if anyone around E TX will see flash flooding. Several inches onto drought poached soil should be no problem but if that becomes localized 8" in 24 hours for someone then the situation changes.

Victoria has ALOT of rain lined up for them. The way the band is orientated, its possible it reaches SW of Houston by this afternoon. Sun is peaking through here, which is not a good thing. Could help lead to more convection. Only about an inch of rain here so we can handle alot more.

Hope everyone stays safe.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Corpus Christi TX
1036 AM CDT Wed Jun 20 2018

.DISCUSSION...

Not many changes needed to the previous forecast. Adjusted
temperatures a bit to account for ongoing trends and to bump the
afternoon highs down a couple of degrees.

Training storms this morning, producing rainfall rates of 2-4"
per hour have resulted in significant flooding across the Coastal
Bend. Several flash flood warnings have been issued with a flash
flood emergency issued for Port Aransas where there has been
numerous water rescues and reports of water entering homes.

Additional rain is expected this morning as radar shows areas of
moderate to heavy rainfall over the Gulf Waters tracking inland
just north of Corpus Christi. The strongest showers/storms will
begin to diminish a bit late this afternoon, with lingering
showers around the area. Even with a lull in the rainfall, expect
flooding conditions to continue due to the significant amount of
rainfall we have received in the last couple of days.

I lived in PA for about 3 years. I went back after Harvey and about cried. Those old homes and hang outs were gone.

@StuOstro
Serious #flood situation continues in south #txwx as torrential downpours keep swirling around the tropical system and training over the same locations (loop is of the latest escalation, since midnight)

Houston may need to start watching whats happening to the west since the atmosphere over houston is completely moist dew points in the upper 70's and in some cases reaching 80. Supporting rainfall rates of 3-4 inches a hour. Add to that we've had sun all morning making it even worse.

that front that sagged through the area is sitting to the southeast of Tarrant and most of Dallas county. There is a nice rain shower in SE Dallas Co and down toward Waxahachie with an out flow boundry thrying to push out to the NW.

Thanks Portastorm. My house and neighborhood is on high ground, so no flooding issues. Five inches of rain since 7pm last night on top of the almost 2 from the night before. Cotton farmers probably went from coming close to filing for a drought loss to making a good crop this year.

Escaped filing for drought loss only to have to file for loss of crop to fungus. Its a never ending battle!
