@NWSBrownsville
[11:15 am] Heavy rain and thunderstorms continue to train over the same locations across central and western Hidalgo county where life threatening flash flooding is ongoing. Additionally, some heavy rain for other areas of deep south Texas as well. #rgvwx #rgv #txwx #stxwx #spi

Here is a picture of the branches that snapped last night at a neighbors house. It looked like 1 large branch last night but I couldn't see it was 2 that broke.

Are you saying you wanted those storms that dropped the big hail?

No, I didn't want the big hailer, but the 2nd storm wasn't a big hailer though and it died a few miles north of me so I was fairly disappointed to miss out on all that rain. Though before last night I probably would have traded Ping Pong ball sized hail for beneficial rain.

Multiple Road Closures in Hidalgo County. Thankfully as of right now it looks like the rain may be ending now the clean up begins.

Governor Greg Abbott Issues Disaster Declaration In Response To Severe Weather And Flooding

June 21, 2018 | Austin, Texas | Press Release

Governor Greg Abbott today issued a State Disaster Declaration for six Texas counties impacted by severe weather and flooding. Prior to today’s disaster declaration, Governor Abbott authorized the use of all available resources of state government and of political subdivisions to aid in response efforts.

"As severe weather and flooding continue to impact parts of Texas, our first priority is to ensure the safety of our fellow Texans in harm’s way,” said Governor Abbott. “The State of Texas has activated all necessary resources to help respond to the ongoing severe weather, and we will continue to provide any assistance to local communities. I thank our first responders who are working to keep Texans safe, and I encourage all those in the affected regions to continue to heed all warnings from local officials.”

Counties included in the disaster declaration are: Aransas, Cameron, Hidalgo, Nueces, San Patricio and Willacy.

The tradeoff to Tropical Weather. Wishing they were getting rain, Houston didn't get a whole lot from this.

There are solid signs that the background state is shifting towards nino but we may not see any benefits of that until the Fall. It takes a lot to shake up the stagnant Texas summer pattern once it sets in. We need to get some big WPAC systems to recurve into the high lats to start shaking things up or a steady stream of EPAC systems with moisture streaming up. However, I'm confident that we will see the pattern shift to better for Texas at some point but it might not be until September.

its a nice change to see a 50% of storms today and a 40% chance tomorrow night in the midst of an extremely dry period. Hopefully something actually falls from the sky this time.

Felt great today, went on a 3 mile walk around 3 PM and the sun felt really good. It's probably just me making up for that horrible April though.

lol, the heat just didn't feel unbearable today. Of course it wasn't that long ago when I was wearing pads and a helmet in this kind of weather.

From 2" to 8" of rain fell across Harris County. Average rainfall was 3-5 inches. Just as predicted.
