Mid-Cities including the airport getting hit pretty hard right now with 2-3"/hr rain rates. Some places in Collin and northern Tarrant Counties (radar estimated) looks like 5-6" already.

gpsnowman and myself are right in the bullseye of that. It just missed the airport recording site by just a few miles but still raining hard there now.

That 5" needed could be done. Also could get into top 10 of 24 hour all time maximum rainfall totals. Surprisingly none of the 2015 rain events made the top 10 list.

Roads were not fun, was driving about an hour ago and things were already flooding in low areas in Frisco. I can’t even imagine how much there is now.

Hwy 75 closure was due to the ongoing construction creating a bathtub effect with drains being covered.

Beltline near 183 in Irving. If you're familiar with the mall.

A little more than 4.75" of rain today at DFW so far (still raining hard in the mid-cities). That passes Feb 28 of this year when 4.72" fell on that day. That will bring the month to almost 7.9"

Not sure how much rain we've received in Arlington, but it has been flat out pouring for hours now.

that wettest September record may be in real danger

Pattern still looks unsettled even once this mess moves on

Based on radar trends and how things have unfolded in the middle of the metroplex, the record will probably fall by morning. Still getting 2-3" hour rates in the vicinity. There will probably be a 10"+ total somewhere between Arlington, Grand Prairie, and Irving along with some spots in Collin County that have already received a lot.

I hope everyone stays safe, flooding isn't to be taken lightly. I'm sure the guys and girls at the WFO have their eyes glued to the computers right now. lol

It appears that the models (GFS & CMC) have backed down the last couple runs on rainfall totals across the state. I no longer see the widespread 3-7”+ amounts for most of the state like I was seeing before. Now I see just a bunch of 1-3” amounts over the next couple weeks which doesn’t exactly spell a rainy pattern. I know you guys are getting hammered in NTX right now, but most of the state isn’t.

More then 5" so far here at the house, backyard and patio completely under water, at least 2" above patio and about 3/4" from coming in under French doors into livingroom. Last time it was this close was Feb this year and before that it's been a few years.

Rain has eased off as main cell pushes east into southwestern Dallas Co. Drought officially over for NTX.
